I almost told the guy doing the round by round on the forum here to STFU because he was saying Chambers picked up Wlad, body-slammed him etc. Had no idea it was for real until the post-fight articles/pictures started coming out.
Exactly, Pete. Chambers was retaliating, not initiating. Good for him. Especially since that was his most meaningful offensive success of the night. I like the grin on his face as he picks him up though. "Lean on me, mother****er. Check this out."
I remember Holyfield doing a similar thing to Lewis except he had the grace the gently place Lewis back on his feet. Moorer did it against Holyfield as well. One of these days someone is going to slip a disk and be laughed at until I can laugh no more.
I remember that too. Holyfield was probably like... "Wait, I'm the good holy Christian man. I must put him down."
I remember Urkal leaning over Cotto a bit and Cotto shrugging him up over his shoulder with one arm like he was playing WWF with a toddler.
Those lifts and the body slam were actually the best things Eddie did all night... (besides his uncanny Joshua Clottey imatation of course) He was not allowing Wlad to use that Lennox Lewis "lean your weight on the guy's shoulders and hold on" defence that Manny taught him. As it turned out Wlad didn't need to hold much because Chambers was doing jack **** anyway... But it was a pretty good strategy for Eddie... and it semed to be working as far as limiting Wlad's usual pattern of holding on the inside imo.
in the postfight comments, chambers said he was trying to get wlad off his game plan by picking him up.
Especially when Haye openly announced he wants to retire after "beating both Klitschkos". How would that save the division? We'd be back to 2004 with a bunch of bums competing for 4 ABC titles.
