That's avg 8 clinches per round. Clinch avg ~10 seconds.. That's 80 seconds per round just clinching That's ~1.3 min per round clinching.. 41% of each round was clinching. Some clinches were longer than 10 seconds :fire:fire:fire:dead:-(-(-((
Ref should have taken more points honestly. At least Jennings was ripping him to the body every time.
Hopefully the next ref will also be canadian, and won't let any of this go on. Wlad showed glimpses of past glory with inside uppercuts (all 3 of them), and if he knows he can't clinch, he will shake off the robotic clinch programming Steward put in him to protect him, and start fighting inside. There is NO REASON for him not to, his chin held up nicely the last decade.
One thing that irked me was the ref kept saying, "do it again and I'll take away a point"..."do it again and I'll take away a point"..."do it again and I'll take away a point"..."do it again and I'll take away a point"... By the fourth time I was like "take away the damn point already!" But hey, it was the first time in years that a ref actually even warned Wlad to not hold so much. You can see how much of his game plan is based on holding. He was made a bit apprehensive about holding and becasue of that a novice was able to go the distance.
You call that ripping someone to the body? How long have you been watching Boxing? :huh Those weren't even proper bodypunches. They were taps in a clinch. A proper bodyshot isn't thrown with one armed wrapped around a guy.
