Wlad could fight Haye in September

    Wlad didn't exactly take much punishment yesterday, I guess he could be ready to fight again next week if he wanted. He already prepared for David Haye, who should be fit in a couple of months again, so why not make that fight happen in september? As I undestand it, both fighters and the boxing public still wants it. The terms of the fight have already been agreed on, they could stay the same, and it should be possible to find a TV broadcasting spot and an arena to stage the fight by then too. As I always said, since there are no great opponents available in this era, Wlad should try to fight at least three times a year against those who are available, and he could still achieve that this year.

    Yesterdays fight showed that Wlad still doesn't have infight skills, and some day one of his opponents will exploit that. Chagaev wasn't able to do it, but maybe David Haye will. I wonder why Manny Steward doesn't teach Wlad a good uppercut, like he teached to Lennox Lewis. Anyways, I also noticed that Wlads footwork and ring generalship have greatly improved, and he cut off the ring effectively against Chagaev.

    Didn't you see Wlad's statement?

    Haye should now fall in line for his shot at the title! :deal

    Povetkin is due his shot by September, and deserves it much more than Haye. David will have to wait his turn.

    I agree that Povetkin does deserve his shot more than Haye, but will he take his shot? Povetkin is not ready yet, and he knows it himself, so he might want to wait some more.

    Wlad doesn't need great infight knowledge since he proved too many times that his stance is the perfect one to his physical-technical advantages. Actually Tyson couldn't make much of his infight ability when he was up against Lewis if you can well remember... It's not what Wladimir can't do, it's what he does that makes so hard to beat him. Chagaev couldn't reach him, Iggy couldn't hit him, Tony T took some of that, I guess it's all up to Povetkin and if he fails, well, then I don't give Haye much of a chance either....

    Povetkin will be slaughtered.. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I think Klitschko will have a crowd pleasing knock out over Povetkin, Wlad has always been awkward and tentative with southpaws.

    Wlad*'s brother Vitaly stated in an interview yesterday that he would either take on Haye or Valuev in his next fight.He also stated that he had had a " fight" with his little brother who of them would be the first to fight Haye.Obviously,Wlad won that "fight" then.Now its Vitaly's time!

    hayefaker chickened out of his shot at WK. because hayefaker knows he gets slaughtered now and his ONLY shot is to wait to WK retires or declines.

    I never said he needed 'great' infight ability, at any rate it's too late for him to develop 'great' infight skills now. As a tall fighter he should continue to concentrate on fighting 'tall', as he does now, and that's what he does best; but I think that he should at least have some basic infight knowledge, like throwing an uppercut f.ex. Wlad has no infight skills at all, that's why he is clueless once an opponent gets close to him, and that's why he resorts to holding then. You may say that's effective, but it's not the way a 'great' champ should do it. True, he kept Chagaev, Ibragimov etc. at the end of his jab, that's why he didn't need infight skills in these fights, but one day he will face an opponent who will get past his jab and then Wlad will have problems. I don't know if Povetkin or Haye can do it, but one day he will face such an opponent. It would be clever for Wlad to learn some basic infight skills. As for Tyson facing Lewis, well Tyson was already too slow there, that's why he couldn't reach Lewis. It would have been different with a young Tyson.

    he was ready for June 20, so if Chagayev would reuse to fight - we'd see Wlad-Povetkin. So I'm 85% sure we'll see Wlad-Povetkin next.
    And if he would want to wait a little more - he should be strip of his contender status. Damn, that soap opera lasts for 18 months now! He's next, Eddie-Sasha winner in early 2010, and then Valuevs, Hayes and so on...

    Vitali is much more likely to face Haye at this point. I think Wlad is fed up with Haye's antics and doesn't want to waste more time with him. I think the attention turns to Povetkin and Valuev.

    Yeah he is. He's a nice bloke and IMO Haye really did get to him. You can tell how riled he is in the vid when Haye's name gets brought up. Lol.
