Most Likely, but you have to judge from era to era...Joe Louis reigned from 1936 to 1948........things change.....no one ever heard of Ali, the internet? weights to become more explosive? Being able to watch most of your opponents fights, break it down in slow mo........maybe watch the fight from different angles...landing on the moon? The mafia? whats that. Thing is Joe fought all the fighters he had to from his era....Lennox did it somehwat but was plaqued by polictics.
You bring up great points. JL basically fought blind. He probably saw extremely limited film of his opponents which is more a statement on his greatness. To disregard his feats at HW back then when basically he was, by today's standard, overlooking opponents is irresponsible. Today's fighter is much more priviledged by having the convienences of film, proper diet, more advanced corners, training etc.
Wlad has a mandatory vs Thompson next, then perhaps Povetkin. I think that will be his 2008 schedule. Iggy, Thompson, then Povetkin.
Yeah boxing, well sport science has moved on and to some extent boxing has as well but unfortunetly the way it ran it means fighting arent as hardened, or in the same condition. I have no doubt that fighters today hit far harder than say 20 years ago.......People harp on about Lewis being chinny.....well you get hit by two 6'2 235 pound men with bf ranging below 15 per cent and see how u react. His main thing was no being able to recover from being put down.....like i said if boxers took a more risk aproach to fighting it benfit them and the sport. Lets say all the boxers go togeather and created a universal champion for each category.....and if you are champ then after every defense you have within 3 months to fight again or be stripped..oh i dunno it probably to hard to sort out
Still crap that they fight 3 times a year.....how many times do tennis player plays, NFL, bastkeball, Footballers worldwide, how many races do F1 do.
