Wlad doesn't deserve criticism for his "boring" fights

I'm a fan, but I have to say that he did hold a bit too much up until about the 4th round. As soon as Peter tired out though he stopped holding and really started to open up. By the 7th it was Peter who was holkding on for dear life and Wlad was throwing very hard shots. Even when he throw shorter shots like his brother is wont to do, they connect with a lot of force. It was also good to see Wlad take the uppercut out of storage. I don't remember him throwing one with bad intention for years. But in this fight it was the blow that actually forced the ref to jump in before Peter hit the canvas.

They didn't drop him for boring fights. They dropped him because of expenses. Simpy put, it a lot more expensive to record fights in Germany than in the US. If you've notice over the past few years, HBO isn't airing many overseas bouts anymore. As boring as they may be, if the Klitschko were based and fought in America, HBO would broadcast their bouts.

The fans did decide. HBO was losing a hell of a lot of money on Wlad with his Jab and Grab Style. I didn't think it was fair to punish Vitali too. At least Vitali fights. You nuthuggers claim it was Peter the one holding. But watch Peter vs. Vitali. No holding at all.

I actually don't find his bouts all that boring. I mean, Iggy was abysmal. But Brock, Chageav, Austin, and Brewster were decent fights. Chambers was pretty bad and Thompson was nothing to write home about either. None of them were great. And that's the problem. Also, Wlad tends to get graded on a curve. People expect him to just blow guys out because of his size and strength advantages. And that's understandable. But it's not his style. The only time Wlad is or can be exciting is when he's fighting a guy like Austin that doesn't belong in the same ring with him or taking on a pressure fighter like Brewster. Haye is that kind of fighter, so maybe that would be an exciting fight.

Evidence? Hmmm? Where is the proof that they were losing "a hell of a lot of money on Wlad?" HBO never said that. They never came out and said that they dropped him because he was losing money. In fact, they didn't drop him at all. They simply didn't renew his contract. No one here knows the specifics? Perhaps Wlad asked for more money or a longer contract. Really, don't post if you don't have anything to add to the argument. If you have the numbers on hand, post them.

Absolutely. But perhaps they were losing money because the Klitschkos fight in Germany. I don't know the costs, but I'd assume that it is much more expensive to film bouts overseas than in America. My point was that there are a hundred possible reasons why they didn't renew his contract. One of them, of course, my be his boring style. Another might be the fact that he fights overseas or that the division itself is subpar. There are literally only four big fights that can be made. Either Klitschko aganst Adamek or Haye...that's it! And when HBO choose not to renew his contract there were no big fights on the horizon. Haye and Adamek were still in lower division. HBO has already said that they will show Haye vs. Wlad.

We all know that Wlad is boring as hell to watch.....but please stop doing threads about him. He brings nothing to boxing. His brother, well that's another story.......

If this was just a problem with Wlad then why don't they show the rest of the division? Remember they use to show crap fights like Toney, Peter, Ibragimov, etc. etc. Not because these fights were ultra exciting or a display of supreme boxing skill but simply because these fighters were American or US based and popular in the US.

Wlad - Peter I received big ratings on HBO in the US.

The problem isn't with Wlad specifically, the way I understood Greenburg is the lack of interest by the US public because there are no American or US based fighters that could legitimately challenge either Klitschko brother. Adamek may be a silver lining on the horizon.

Add to that the fact that HBO has been having trouble gaining new subscribers they are probably reigning in budgets and keeping a tight lid on spending.

The refs are too blame about Wlad's fights being boring. If they would start deducting points for all of his holding, then he'd have to throw punches or get DQed.

As it stands know, Wlad will and should just keep doing what is working for him. He's a huge star in Germany, makes tons of money, and he wins his fights.
