yes that s what i am saying. people hit prime at different tmes, and wlad from peter onwards is clearly better than wlad befor then. because you cant explain. you just assume holmes is an atg, and dismiss wlad as beng on his level.
Wlad is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. He is just entering his prime and he already has a very impressive resume. - Most dominant fighter in the world - Has cleaned out the HW division - Lineal/IBF/WBO/IBO/RING Unified heavyweight champion of the world - Olympic Gold Medalist - 49 KOs in 55 wins - Has made 16 dominant world title defences - Has defeated 8 world heavyweight champions: Chris Byrd I (31-1) Chris Byrd II (39-2) Sam Peter I (24-0) Sam Peter II (34-3) Ruslan Chagaev (25-0) Sultan Ibragimov (22-0) Lamon Brewster (33-3) Hasim Rahman (45-5) Francois Botha (44-3) Ray Mercer (30-4) - has defeated tons of top contenders: Eddie Chambers (35-1) Calvin Brock (29-0) Tony Thompson (31-1) Jameel McCline (28-2) Monte Barrett (23-0) Ray Austin (24-3) DaVarryl Williamson (20-2) Axel Schulz (26-3) Derrick Jefferson (23-2) Charles Shufford (17-1) Eliseo Castillo (18-0) etc....
wouldn't say that he is clearly better. clearly more EFFECTIVE at times, but not better. the wlad of the mercer fight is a tough fight for any heavy in history. his offensive arsenal was nearly perfect and defensively he was more varied than he is now (with the exception of clutching). his jab now is far better utilized, more varied and his ability to stymy his opponents pressure is brilliant. still think the old wlad is better
wow....look at all those atg names he beat. Ibragimov.....didnt bother at all in their fight fat eddy chambers the nigerian nightmare?! A past is mercer and a past it rahman. Vvv impressive resume. I hate how people just ignore his three losses! They came in his mid 20's when boxers are peaking. He got his ass handed to him. You say he improved after those losses? No. I say the competition just got a lot shitter
You are clearly proud of this stupid bull**** post as you're copying and pasting it into all the Wlad love-in threads you can find. Here's my response again if you missed it: :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl You're a ****in clown! Wlad has never been in the ring with a very good fighter, let alone beaten a HOF-er. He's never been unified champ. If you think he has you need to research what it means. He has had very few 'dominant' title defenses. He looked like a scared wimpering little ***** in all but one or two. He never cleaned out the division cos has never held the WBA, refused to fight 2 long-time champs in Vitali and Valuev and hasn't beaten the 2nd best in division now in Haye. He only beats overmatched bums and he looks bad doing it, so to call him 'most dominant fighter in the world' is ****ing idiotic. You are just another totally ******ed moron who is a worshipper of one man and not a fan of boxing.
the old wlad is more exciting, but given his chin, the old wlad is always a knockout waiting to happen.
He's become one hell of a heavyweight, I just wish he would be a little less catious. The thing is when you dominate that many bouts in a row, the competition get's overrated. Wlad hasn't been in a real great war like Vitali vs Lewis, but he's shown his skill, ring IQ and strength, with dominant performances.
i'm one of those that doesn't think it's all his chin. it is what it is and hasn't changed. if he went into a war and came out of it, i think you'd see his punch resistance vastly improve. as wayne mccullough said, chins are 90% mental (for some)
Ok he hasn't beaten the man who beat the man etc but he's as dominant a HW and as close to legit as we have right now, just a pity he'll never face the No2. In a parallel universe if Wlad could have faced Vitali in 2006 after the Peter/Byrd wins (prime Wlad, slightly past prime Vitali) imo he'd have lost and Vitali would have a stronger claim to being 'the man'.
after this BOMB was dropped the poster of this thread fadded away like a fart in the wind.... hello, where arrrreeee Youuuuuuuu..........
the threadstarter is 100% right. You can argue back and forth all you want but the bottom line remains that to establish a new HW champion of the world after lineage has been broken, #1 and #2 must face off. I don't care if they're brothers or not.
