Just throwing it out there. Haye nabbed a round, possibly two. Then, we have to go back to 2008 to find a fighter who took a couple rounds off of him (Thompson I). That's less than a handful of rounds in nearly 7 years, covering unification fights, multiple fights against #1 contenders, and a range of stances and styles. We've never seen that level of dominance from a heavyweight champion, particularly one who fights his top contenders. You don't have to like him, but it's the most dominant heavyweight title reign you're going to see in your lifetimes. Wlad's biggest crime is that, in not letting anyone come close to being competitive, his own dominance is getting sold short by people who can't appreciate how hard it is to outclass world caliber competition that widely, that consistently, for that long. Respect. :deal
I remember giving Pulev a round in the fight. Wach arguably won a round as well. But yeah that's what you get from being a great HW in the worst era of division of all time.
Just shows you what a great technical boxer vlad is,the only way to beat him is to make a dog fight out of it and knock him out. Fighters with a great chin and hard punch are the only one with a chance.
Wach didn't win a round. He landed one punch that round you're referring to, while Wlad landed plenty atsch But yeah, I gave Pulev a round.
:deal Wlad's been on top for more than one era. Look at the rankings from 2008, when Wlad unified against Ibragimov, to now. Povetkin, the ghost of Chagaev, and what's left of Thompson are all that's left. The next generation of contenders, like Pulev, hadn't even turned pro when Wlad took over. If you go back to 2006 when he knocked out Byrd to begin his title reclamation, it's even more stark. Povetkin was fighting 6 rounders. It'll have been 9 years since the Byrd fight when he defends next. That's absurd longevity in championship level boxing. You'd never see someone argue that 1981 and 1990 were the same era, or that 1992 and 2001 were.
What utter nonsense! Wach had him on ***** street, Haye won more than two rounds, Povetkin had him holding on for dear life like a Clinchopus and Pulev landed at will. Even Leapai and Mormeck won rounds.
Best heavyweight ever. If he fought in the 80s he'd be undefeated since it was an era filled with small and weaker heavyweights who wouldn't cope with someone of Wlad's size.
*yawn* As I said let's bring back the Tyson years full of blown up light heavyweights and alcoholic's and druggies.
