http://www.fightnews.com IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward after Tuesday's grueling workout at Wladimir's West Palm Beach traing camp. The champion looked sharp in sparring ten rounds against Matt Godfrey, Alfredo Escalera Jr. and Livin Castillo. >>Godfrey has sparred with Wlad before. He, and Castillo can help perpare Wlad for Ibragimov's speed.
the title of the thread made me wonder.... has any boxer ever said... that they are NOT having a good camp?
I don't remember Ibragimov being all that fast. Not Golata-slow either, but not a a speed demon. Am I remembering incorrectly?
he has really fast hands. I think its pretty clear in most of his fights. he also moves pretty well. He can avoid a punch, land counter punches...and avoid retaliation. His stamina has let him down in the past but looked good vs. briggs and holyfield. honestly I'm surprised anyone would say he's not fast.
Ibragimov is certainly faster than the average heavy, but his strong point is that he moves quite well which makes him appear to be faster than he actually is. The question is, will he move well enough to avoid getting hit by Klitschko? :huh
(before the fight) We've had a great training camp. We are looking sharp and will be fully prepared and ready to fight.... (after the fight which was a loss) I was not prepared. Training went poorly, and I was sick as hell, and STILL am.
u better believe it. if wlad doesn't have to fear an opponents power and fight in a shell, he's lethal. iggy has average power. lights out in 4
Sultan has a rare combination of both quick hands and great footspeed. He's also a southpaw with some power who is in his prime right now. The question to me is can Ibragimov get past Wlad's jab, move into the dangerzone without getting hit by that right hand, then get out of the way as he did vs Holyfiield or Briggs? Not likely. To win, Ibragimov needs to make it a war and hope he lands his best stuff early.
Iggy stands a about a 20% chance, his only way of winning might be through an early knockout IMO, ever since the first Brewster fight Wlad has shown minimal signs of tiring down the stretch, even after he had a panic attack against Peter he still kept his composure quite well. Iggy must blitz Wlad early and take him out of his comfort zone, because come the middle rounds Wlad will just start to let his right hand go more, Iggy will end up on knocked out on the canvas in no time.
