Maybe that's because even ATG fighters don't fight a fellow ATG every time they fight. If a fighter has, say 60 fights, chances are there will only be a handful against guys that are still being talked about 20 years later. The first 15-20 will be against "tomato cans" as they're getting experience, then you get a title and have some mandatories against guys who aren't as good, and a few fights against people who really test you.

When I think about Ali I first think "Frazier", then "Foreman", then maybe "Norton", "Liston" (and "Wepner" because I like that fight). I don't think about all the other guys he fought - I only know who some of them are because of ESPN Classic. But that's ok, it doesn't make Ali any less great in my mind.

I'll admit that Wlad needs someone who can really test him. As of now there aren't many guys who can but that's by no means his fault. Why should we dissect his record when he fought the best he could? No one's saying he'll never fight Haye anyway.

 

In this day and age there just aren't opponents with the marquee name recognition like Frazier, Foreman, Norton for Klitschko to defeat and attain that credibility for doing it.

If those fighters were around today, with their equivalent popularity, they'd be in deep waters trying to figure out how to beat either Klitschko.

It's unfortunate that's the way it is for Klitschko today but not much he can do about it. Just hope history records it all fairly.

I am simply pointing out the bias in his posts. He bashes on Wlad's opponents and then uses Lewis as a gauge to base bashing him by. I am just doing the same thing that they do to Wlad.

Of course LL was a great fighter. I honestly think that he could have done so much more during the 90's, and after he became recognized Champ... but that doesn't take away from the fact that he did have a great career.
