Haye's resume is ****. And his performances are so-so at best. His opposition quite poor. So, yeah, I don't rate him yet.
I think he's still below Bruno among our heavyweights, and I'm under no illusions on Bruno's mediocre overall ability.

He has his chance on July 2nd to make me change that assessment significantly. :good

Compare him to Sam Peter if you like, but Max Baer was nothing like SNV.

    Still an insult to Baer.

Baer pulled off moves against Carnera that Peter couldn't even dream of.

What Baer cornered Louis with was no flurry. Those punches were thrown with a lot of leverage and force, no slapping, and they were fast. A ton of HW's would have crumbled under that assault.

Baer was a talented, but lazy man. And mentally lacking, IMO. Too busy slaying starlets, i guess.

Probably true. However they were both crude sluggers in my mind.

Oh & i think even the supposedly green '05 Wlad is far superior to Carnera in H2H terms. I know Peter lost that fight, but he did score 3 knockdowns on Klitscko.

Baer is borderline top 15 all time. I've ranked him in the top 15 before.
From the summer of 31 to the summer of 35 he was unbeaten with two brutal knockouts of lineal champions in Schmeling and Carnera, he wasn't as inconsistent as people think.
He was a monster that's become under rated because many haven't seen him fight outside of the Louis fight. Like the idiot that said he was a smaller Valuev :patsch I mean if you're that ignorant of a fighter don't post about him.

To shots round the back of the head, mainly. Never did he land a peach like so (1:15) :good

I'm actually of the opinion that the first Peter fight was more dangerous for Wlad than Haye will be.

Cheers, I was half-expecting it to be Gavin Evans.

Not crazy at all, but a peak Foreman has him panicking and hiding for cover IMHO.

    Agreed

Why is it ok, to bring older fighters forward into 2011 but yet they're not allowed to adapt and change their styles under the current rules?

Johnsons a caveman because he fought over 100 years ago, if he was fighting today, he would have developed his style with time and would look and fight totally different.

Sent Waldo back 100 years in Johnsons time, and he he wouldnt be fighting with pit pat jabs he would be duking it out (and getting KTFO every night)

Todays superior fighters? like Brewster, Purrity and Sanders, Peters and Chambers?????

with the size of the Klitchkos, I am not sure how well Frazier would do against those guys or how other greats would do who were smaller. They never dealt with guys that big.
