Wlad would stop a 38 year old Holmes IMO, I can flip that around and ask would Tyson get Mercer out of there? I don't think he would tbh.

I dont understand why people hold The Tyson/Smith fight as Tysons fault?

Smith should have been disqualified, just like Akinwande was against Lewis.

I think Wlad stops old Holmes.

But Tyson would have certainly stopped old Mercer. Tyson probably stops prime Mercer.

These things happen. It's not a question of punching power, sometimes fighters go out there just to not get knocked out.

The Ruddock analogy was just stupid. Bonecrusher had Ruddock hurt early and he took more risks and got far more careless than he did against Mike.

I can't see Tyson stopping the Merciless one, Ray could box aswell as rough it up and had a great set of whiskers, he takes Tyson into deep waters and drowns him.

Yes, just quoting, but it is still more than what most posters have presented in this thread. Believing in who you actually knock out has also flaws, as style vs. style, aggression and fear, speed, round no., fitness, age, status/famousness, body (weight, height), etc. of both duellist at that time play a role. This is just too many factors to take into account. It is like comparing different eras. We just don't know exactly.
Wilder is a good example, having all victories by KO does not mean that you are an elite boxer, even with his weak comp it still says something about his power though. However, can we please stop comparing Wilder to Wlad and Mike?

Who did Ray Mercer take into deep waters and drown?

Asides from glass jawed Tommy Morrison (in a fight Mercer was losing)

Ray Mercer beat Damiani and Morrison and who else?

Theres levels to this, and Tyson is a few levels above Mercer.

Mercer couldnt drown Jesse Ferguson for gods sake

Wlad and Mike are two totally different fighters.

Mike purely relied on power, Wlad uses it as a last resort.

Holyfield had the Mercless One down and hurt.

Mercer could not box well. He got outboxed quite often.

So what?? Lewis couldn't do nothing with Ray, are you saying Holyfield hit harder than Lewis??

If you don't think Mercer can box well I think you should go watch the Lewis fight.

The fight with Tyson would be similar to the Morrison one yet would last longer because Mike had a better chin than Tommy.

Mercer ate shots from Morrsion who probably punched harder than Tyson and came on strong to score the knockout, he gave Lewis hell so no way in hell is he levels below Tyson, he had a very good chance of defeating post Ruddock Tyson IMO.

Yeah, my point about the left hook. Lewis didn't have one. Holyfield has a great one. Tyson has a really great one.

Or Holmes, or Ferguson, or Holyfield, or Wilson, or even Morrison and Damini where he was getting outclassed before his power bailed him out.

people forget lewis was around in the 80s briefly too.

though his face was much gayer back then.
