I like Wlad, I always have. Not a Nut hugger, but I do give cred where credit is due. The man has improved no doubt. He's a good guy in general; in and out the ring. Always in shape. But I didn't know how much he acutally did care about his fans. This shows that proof that Wlad is a freakin classy guy and not caught up with the Bull **** of boxing politics and money that ruins so many others. /salute Source: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=13300&more=1 "In fairness to HBO, I have heard they wanted Klitschko to fight again this year, but in order to make that a reality it needed to be a PPV event. I cannot say with certainty that this was the case, but trustworthy sources tell me that Wladimir rejected this notion because he opposes the idea of making his fans pay an extra $50 every time they want to see him fight. While this is a noble gesture on the part of Klitschko, Im not so sure it serves his best interests in terms of career and legacy."
Not a hugger here either, but he is one of my top 5 active fighters.. Plus, hes gotta have class, look at Vitali!!! (Quickest example is shoving Lennox Lewis after their fight.....Lennox would have had his ass beat in a fight outside the ring that night if Vitali got his way)
yeah, one of the many reasons i enjoy watching this guy fight. admittedly he makes a ton fighting in germany so financially doesn't really need the money. kinda the de la hoya of europe. i guess if he was poor or not that well off, he'd probably go for PPV to help secure his future financially. nevertheless he could easily still demand PPV despite his fortune, but chooses not to. that is classy. and no matter what they say it wont hurt his legacy or career. once he is a unified champ come february, people will have to take notice that he is the legit king of the division. :thumbsup
As much as I dislike Wlad, its cool to see him not going the PPV direction like most. On the other hand the heavyweight division is not exactly profitable anymore, the average fan wont pay 50 bucs unless its Holyfield fighting. I probably wouldnt even pay 50 bucs to see a lame fight like Iggy/Wlad, especially since I know it wont be a competitive matchup.
It is odd to hear a fighter say this, after so many other boxers say things like It if don't make dollars, it don't make sense, and such. The way Wlad is, as a fighter and a person, is certainly a great asset to the sport, no question.
Nice avatar, Im surprised you changed it. I dont think any average fan would buy the Iggy/Wlad match anyways, I would even have to think before dropping 50 on it. The fight itself would do really bad numbers on PPV I think, since no one really watches the heavyweights anymore.
Do you have an hour, but honestly I dont like him because he doesnt fight the way a great heavyweight champion should fight. Wlad's chin probably bothers me the most, its like everytime he gets hit with a good shot he either clinches excessively and has a panic attack or falls to the canvas. The fact that people give him so much credit for beating lame competition is surprising to me, the only win I give him any real credit for is when he beat Peter in september of 05, he was able to weather the storm and finish out a tough fight with a win. I really want to see him go up against guys like Chagaev, Valuev, and Peter again, fighters that will give him a good competitive fight.
