I want to see him fight these 3 guys: 1.) Haye 2.) Arreola 3.) Peter* *If Peter shows interest in the sport again. He beats these 2/3 guys then he can call it a career.
I knew that was coming... I understand, but that was his greatest test in how long...? But I put the * there because Peter needs to be interested. If it's the Peter in his last few fights...forget it.
Peter is done at the top level. Wlad fought Sam when he was undefeated and fit at 240 pounds. Now he's fighting in the mid-260's. Peter hadn't taken any punishment before facing Wlad. I was impressed with Peter's heart and chin in that fight but there is no way in hell he can take those shots again. Peter showed some foot speed whihc is completely gone now too. Moreover, Wlad was just getting comfortable under Steward and is much better at controlling range now. This would be a massacre with Peter either quitting or getting stopped late-rounds. Haye/Arreola have hype behind them but they are very unproven at hw. I wouldn't mind those fights but Id rather see Wlad take on Povetkin and Valuev first. if they are still around after that, then im all for it.
Peter would have to work his way back up. Giving him a title shot would be nothing short of charitable at this point. But, I understand why you would be interested. That said, the winner of Chambers/Dimitrenko should realistically replace Peter on that list.
Totally agree. And people are quick to throw Peter under the bus and over his last few fights - rightfully so. But let's be honest - this is the only man in recent years to give Wlad a decent fight. Heck, at least he went the distance which most can't even do now. But yeah, it's a longshot to see Peter turning his act around. I'd like to see it but it's not likely.
Peter is trash, he has always been trash; but now, he knows it too so he doesn't even try hard anymore.
Sure, he gave Wlad a decent fight. But that version of Wlad was not very confident, and he fought very tenatively. A fight today would be a massacre.
If you put together the boxing skills of Sam Peters, the natural ability of Chris Arreola and the speed of Chris Byrd you get David Haye. He is that good.
Then like Scott Hall used to say; "Don't just sing it. Bring it!" Haye has much to prove at HW other than he has a loud mouth.
