Wlad is already a greater champion than Mike Tyson.

Maybe a greater champion based on his dominance and the length of his reign, but he's nowhere near as great a fighter as Tyson.

It's not a question of holding it against him or taking the **** out of him. It's a simple fact that each generation will tend to produce 1-5 world top 30 type HW's. This era is no exception, it has two, but they aren't going to be matched. If a fighter don't have another fighter in this class in your era, or if you don't match that/those fighters for whatever reason, we never really find out about that fighter.

We'd know so much more about Dempsey and Wills if they had got it together. We'd know so much more about Wlad and Vitali if they had got it together - obviously that shouldn't happen, and I'm not saying otherwise, just stating a fact - if you don't mix it with the boy(s) at the very top of your talent pool, there is always a question, and it cannot be ignored just because the fighter in question has a good excuse.

Yep, Tyson was a shitty boxer....:blood, good slugger though.

If Tyson said that Tiny Forman would have been tough for him, Lewis, or the Brothers would have been more.
And as lightfooted and using side stepps like Wald was using tonight, Mike would have had trouble....

maybe his record is better, but at Tyson's prime he would find his way to the inside and hurt Wlad and win via KO.

Tyson just pissed his career away and was done by the time he was 26. Wlad had the discipline to build himself a legacy.

Frankly, i dont see it. the guy can easily fight for 3-4 more years (2 fights a year) with the style he is using as the recognized ring champ. You might be right, waldo might get stopped at some point, i just dont see who?

Waldo will end up with a far longer reign and way more title defenses. Tyson really doesnt have an incredible resume. What makes people in awe of tyson is the way he became champion and the "show" he put on outside the ring. If waldo hangs on..He will surpass Mike.

The question teh original poster posed...is he better now? well I havent seen a proper analysis from anyone to answer that for sure. I suspect No.

Yeah that's all fair enough I suppose....as I said I suspect he's got another loss in him anyway which will make all this talk redundant :rasta

You dont compare lennox lewis with james braddock based on h2h fights. These are different eras. You can only look at who they fought and how dominant they were in their eras as well as what titles they held and defended.

Wlad is hard pressed to be in the top ten due to his lack of rivals, and his 3 KO losses while young. It might already be beyond his grasp.

Wlad's chance to become top 15 or higher (I currently rank him around 20-23) is to have ATG longevity. That doesn't mean champion for 2-3 years (unless he fights 5 times a year ;)) He needs his reign to be among the longest in history and only probably only behind Louis if he wants to be listed among the greats.

When Tyson crushed Berbik, Biggs, Hoklmes, Bruno and Spinks then he lost his way because of things outside boxing.

Wlad's best performance was tonight, but he has been rocked many times over his career and has never been as dominant as Tyson.
