Fair enough RUSKULL, even though Brewster did make that comment, I think it's safe to say Wlad didnt stop punching until the 5th round, up to that point Wlad was firing heavy power shots, most would say too many for a man his size. I think we could all agree neither man had a good chin, Lewis constantly was getting rocked badly in fights throughout his career, against guys like Briggs, Mercer, Vitali, Bruno, even Mirovich(spell check) had him off balance a couple times. Wlad's chin is similar, but what makes his chin appear worse is his reaction to getting hit, which usually results in excessive holding and mass panic, Lewis on the other hand was not afraid to return fire if backed into a corner and his very good uppercut was able to help on the inside, something Wlad has not yet mastered.
I agree on some part but not the one that you say that both lewis and wlad don't got a good chin cause lewis has proven time and time again that he got a better chin. Has wlad ever face big punchers 13 times in the same level as Rahman, Tua, Morrison, Grant, Bruno, Rudduck, Tyson, Golata, Holyfield, Briggs, Mercer ( Wlad fought an older then Mercer while Lewis fought a prime Mercer), McCall, Vitali?
Lewis doesnt have a good chin, it's decent to below average, Steward showed him the way in the mid 90's when he became his trainer. I'm not going argue with you on who fought the bigger punches in there career, the answer is obviously Lewis. Wlad has a very bad chin and his mental toughness is even worse IMO, I never seen a fighter react so badly to getting hit, lucky for him theres only a handful a guys in the division that would even give him a fight.
Dude if lewis doesn't have a good chin then don't you think He'll get tko in the 2nd round vs Vitali? What about when he went toe to toe vs a young Briggs? Or a young undefeated Grant ? What about some of the left hooks that Tua land? Or that big right hand that Tyson land? Or Holyfield great combination in the 3rd round? How come those shots those fighters land on lewis, didn't tko lewis if lewis doesn't have a good chin? A prime tyson was knock out by Dougles so is that mean Tyson doesn't have a good chin?
So Steward help lewis by improving his chin? How did he do that? Lol. If that's the case then how come Steward couldn't help Wlad chin?
I will try to break it down to you the best way I can, Lewis vs Briggs, he was rocked very badily in the first round, but gained his composure and got the knockout a couple rounds later, Grant did nothing in there fight, Tua landed a couple decent hooks, but he landed nothing like he did against Ike less than 3 years before hand, Tyson landed one or two decent hooks in the first, most of which were partially blocked, nothing to write home about. I dont remember the 3rd round to well, but Holyfield was never known as a big hitter at heavyweight. Tyson was taking sustained punishment for what, like 9 or 10 rounds, it hardly came from one punch like what happend to Lewis versus Rahman and McCall. Besides Tyson was ill trained for that match, and was busy having orgies with Jap bitches to worry about Douglas that night. I'm not sure if your trying to say Lewis had a great chin or not, but if thats the case, most would disagree with you.
Defensively, he taught him how to clinch if in trouble as well as improving his overall fighting skills, similar to what he did for Wlad. A good defense could mask a bad chin, just ask Wlad.
Lewis was in trouble in round 1 vs Briggs but lewis didn't get stopped instead he fought back and later on tko briggs so that to me shows he got a good chin. If i remember correctly grant nail lewis with some good shots but lewis took them well and stop grant in round 2. Lewis was stunned vs Vitali in his last fight in the second round but came back in round 3 to bloody vitali badly. ^^^^^^^^ Those imo shows he does have a good chin while Wlad don't have close to a good chin.
McCall had a nervous breakdown or something and was crying/sobbing he wasn't defending himself don't think that was timidness as opposed to being a good sport.....he knew McCall wasn't right in the head at that time:-( .....the Ref called the fight....
Wlads chin sucks, theres no arguement there, but as far as Lewis is concerned, his chin failed him twice against two journeymen, in one punch knockouts. Throughout Lewis' career he was constantly getting his legs buckled from under him, especially against the bigger punchers in the division, Bruno, Vitali, Mercer, and Briggs all had him rocked pretty good, if he had as good as chin as you say, he wouldnt of been even rocked in the first place.
You proved my point, a guy with a good killer instinct dont care what kind of breakdown your having, he's going in there and taking your ****ing head off until you get dropped or the ref stops it, guy's like Tyson, young Foreman, Peter, and Mercer did whatever it took to put there man to sleep, wether it's punching over a ref(Tyson), or keeping the onslaught going when there oppenents knocked out on the ropes(Mercer), he's making you pay, a killer instinct is not learned, you either have it or you dont, these guys have it, Lewis doesnt.
Getting rocked don't mean a fighter don't have a good chin. Lewis Has been knockdown twice if i remember correctly and that was again mccall and rahman. In the first fight lewis play around too much vs rahman and basically let rahman nail him for a free shot and rahman did that and boom down goes lewis.
It just proves he can take only so much chin wise, thats where a great mental toughness/heart comes into the picture, something Lewis has.
