Wlad is too stiff and one dimensional to beat a prime Tyson.

Tucker connected with an uppercut early, yup. Tyson recovered quick but he showed he could be caught with it if done right.
Bruno however, hit him with a short-left-hook I think it was, right on the button when Tyson was throwing and didn't see it coming...and stunned Tyson. That's what Wlad would have to do. Catch him with that short-left-hook when Tyson doesn't see it.
Now of course, we could talk about why Tyson was susceptible to that punch Bruno threw because of where he was at in his career...however, the uppercut, I've always thought he was vulnerable to....even though he does learn from his mistakes and adapts.

Lennox had a very nice uppercut but people like to focus on his Jab and Straight-right. His uppercut was really something. I've always considered that more of a big factor in a Prime vs. Prime fight between the two of them than any other punch. People like to bring up Lewis's jab, but really, and even Holmes said it, he paws with it to much and leaves it out there. I don't think that would quite work against Tyson. If he does that, it would be Tyson vs. Tucker all over again like Steve Lott once suggested.
But that Uppercut, yeah, I think Lewis could connect with it. And if Tucker hadn't hurt his hand, that fight could have been closer. Of course, it could have also made Tucker brave and if he does open up, it allows Tyson to time him, and counter off it.

The difference however with Lewis and Wlad, and even though I know some will bring up Mercer, is that Lewis has more fight in him to come from behind than Wlad has shown. Lewis doesn't buckle under heavy pressure quite like Wlad has done.

That's not to say Wlad doesn't have heart because he certainly does. But dealing with pressure is not something he is in the ATG category in.

Wladmir would try to keep Tyson at the end of his jab. Possibly succeed for a while, but once Mike found his way inside, Wlad would go to sleep for a good 10 seconds Plus!

Great post, agree with all of it (so it must be great)

The Mercer thing is kind of redundant, WALDO fans occasionally bring that up and it's pretty desperate to compare the Mercer Lewis fought to the one that WALDO fought.

Yeah, a few good jabbers had success with Tyson early....not for long though. Even Holmes at 37/38 had his moments in the Tyson fight with his jab but it always looked like he was just prolonging the inevitable. WALDO would go the same way, except quicker as he doesn't have the chin Holmes did, or the skills.

I think that is how Tyson would have dealt more with Douglas than he would have Wlad, if he were prepared/peak.

Not quite the size of Wlad, but Maybe....

Tyson was quoted in an S.I. article I read a while back talking about that fight and he said something about when Larry started to open up,
he {Tyson} basically got excited because he knew the end was now near for Larry. Something like that.

Yep, jab and reach totally neutralised inside the first 60 seconds - and Williams wasn't a bad fighter by any means. Anyone that thinks Tyson would just be a stationary target like most of WALDOS latest comp is a moron, he was always a very elusive fighter in his prime, and never had problems getting to a glass jaw, which as we all know WALDO has in abundance.

VITLAY might be a slightly tougher fight, but I still think a prime version of Tyson would win every round on the way to a mid rounds KO.

That doesn't surprise me at all, I haven't seen the fight in a while but I remember at the start of the 4th round Holmes was starting to show-boat with the jab, and looked pretty good doing it for about 20 seconds until Tyson closed the range again. Larry wasn't the type to ever panic in a fight but you could see he wasn't comfortable with the ferocity Tyson had....now put WALDO in there, who always looks like a rabbit in the headlights when an opponent really goes for him.....only one winner in this fight.

Start at 1:47...and just watch and think of Tyson in that position.

When you see it like that, it doesn't take much imagination to see what Tyson would do, does it?

Brewster was about 30% of what prime Tyson was, similar style but nothing like the speed or arsenal. Easy fight to pick as I said, Tyson KO within 3 rounds after a horrendous beating.

Man you are right on the money. I could not see Wlad lasting two rounds with a prime Tyson. Wlad would have been bleeding in no time. Could you imagine tyson getting inside with that body attack and wlad trying to hold. Tyson would have koed him with a uppercut on the inside. Tyson would have beat the living hell out of wlad. Besides wlad would have been scared to death of him like golota was. Wlad would have been stiff as hell.
