Wlad looked phenomenal against Pulev, but no so much last night. It happens.

If Furey actually has the guts to fight Wlad next you will see Wlad take his head off.

I dont know how Fury has it planned, but if he ever wants to fight Wlad, now is the time. Its certainly better than fighting Wilder or some European bum as he always does. He will get a big paycheck and even if he loses, he will lose to a big champion, and not to some random idiot who could practically end his career. Young as he is he can still reestablish himself to a degree after a loss to Wlad.

You can see how far Perez can go in a month, hes fighting Povetkin. Theres no bigger test until Wlad.

Until somebody figures out how to get around that jab of his he can be as good or as bad as he wants in a fight the outcome is Vladimir victory. The amount of big names with famous clever corner teams have thought they had the plan but come fight time each and every fight looks very similar.

Only thing Jennings offered was a few desperate lunges, just like most contenders before him.

Wlad was a complete borefest. Why did he go to America for this fight? Wasn't it to convince Americans that he could be exciting? People criticize Floyd for clinching against Maidana, but I see the same people couldn't care less when Wlad does it a 100 times more.

Clinches to me wasnt problem in this match. In Perez - Jennings there was a lot more. Not to mention Jennings initiate some of them, by rushing with his head down and tho referee should warn him about it.
I do think there was some holes in Wlad strategy, which his team should get some negative.
But in other direction, Wlad was perfect in defence. He get 2-3 glancing shot in the head and that was all.
Before the fight he say he was too emotional and open against Pulev and that could cost him a lot and that was an amateur mistake and should not allow again to be such emotional.

Still beating Jennings with ease.. Wlad fights better against taller opponents.

Perez didn't beat Jennings. He might of won the first 5 rounds, by close margins. But he faded badly in the second half of the fight, and was out worked. Jennings is just a better fighter than most people thought. But there won't be many fighting Wlad with his superior conditioning.

He better has, otherwise he won't survive Tyson Fury. Nor Parker or Joshua, and maybe not even Wildest.

He should be honest to himself and see if it's time to retire.

Wlad clearly didn't dominate like he usually does. Maybe he had an off night but that would be an injustice in regards to what Jennings was able to do.

Wlad's jab lacked snap, in fact for a while now he's been just pawing with it the majority of the time. This works against most opponents who don't move their head by Jennings showed plenty of head movement and when he didn't his guard was high to block many of Wlad's weak jabs. Wlad really needs to get back to throwing a more authoritative jab because when an opponent takes it away like Jennings did he clearly struggles.

Wlad usually clinching tactics didn't work as well as usual and this was all down to Jennings not any decline in Wlad's ability to clinch. Jennings may not be very fast but his reach meant he was able to get off first a lot of the time which is always the best tactic against a clincher. The clinch is designed to prevent a counter but if your opponent gets off first a clinch just smothers your chance to counter and that happened throughout the fight, Jennings got off first to the body and Wlad clinched meaning he lost the exchange.

Also when Wlad was clinching, Jennings constantly banged the body. He was able to do this because he also got his head in Wlad's throat in the clinch and this created enough space for him to work.

Wlad uses clinching to control the pace as he has had stamina issues in the past and controlling the pace prevents that. With Jennings working the body so much and be able to fight in the clinches he was often able to control the pace. We saw Wlad really struggled at some points, he looked tired often during the fight as the clinches were no longer something he could use to rest. The fact we saw Wlad actually throw the uppercut on numerous occasions inside, a punch he almost never throws, says a lot about how he was uncomfortable on the inside when he can't smother his opponent.

Na he's been in decline with a while. The Povetkin fight was the nail in the coffin. And he KO'd a complete bum after that and Pulev got too emotional to even attempt to fight Wlad...credit to Wlad for getting the job done but Pulev's ego screwed any chance of him winning that fight. Last night just showed us the true Wlad again.
