Will you guys stop with the lies! 800,000 buys in the UK. The biggest pay per view fight in history involving a boxer from the UK was Lewis. vs. Holyfield I at 1.2 million buys WORLDWIDE! Now, I'm guessing only about 1/4 of those were from the UK. So, you're telling me that Haye vs. the Caveman was three times biggers that Lewis vs. Holyfield I. Please stop. atschatsch
My thoughts exactly... Haye is stuck in the dilemma: if he fights a decent fighter (not even Wlad) he stands a solid chance of losing, if he fights a mediocre fighter he loses his reputation. But he finds a way out - he does neither. Ruiz fight exposed Haye. Watch him getting hit way too often by slow and predictable Ruiz. I'm not even talking about Kilts, fighters like Adamek, Chagaev, Povetkin, Chambers, hey perhaps even Arreola, Solis and Ustinov will beat him. Haye realised how limited he really is and plays optimally by not fighting at all. I don't know who he'll pick next, but my guess it will be a safe play with a name (Rahman, Holyfield?) but way past their prime. He'll not fight former opponents of Klit brothers, as he'll be exposed in comparison with their performance... and then after two more fights he'll retire and will live forever on the pages of British tabloids as an undefeated HW king - the pride of England!!!
I didn't see it, obviously. But even if the Hatton fight was the biggest fight in UK boxing history with 1 million buys, how does that prove that Haye vs. Valuev got 800,000 buys? 1 fight earlier the guy sold a measley 7,000 seats in the O2 arena and his next fight he has the 2nd biggest payper view event in UK history?
lol correct because Don King lined the WBA's pockets with stacks of cash. Doesn't change the reality that Chagaev beat Valuev (a better version and much more convincingly than Haye might i add) then lost to Klychko. Haye is a paper champ, deal with it.
The Haye-Valuev fight drew a market share of 40.5 per cent on German free-to-air television ARD, the figure peaking at 8.4 million, and early indications are that the 'David v Goliath' contest captured the imagination of the British public, and may have sold up to 800,000 pay-per-view buys on Sky Box Office. That puts interest in the fight at the same level as Ricky Hatton's biggest fights http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/boxingandmma/6525627/New-world-champion-David-Haye-wants-home-title-defence-against-John-Ruiz.html
prove it then. And so what if Chagaev beat Valuev more convincingly than Haye - a wins a win and when people look back in say 50 years times that is what they will see, they won't remember the fights unless they go out their way to watch them. I love reading keyboard warriors like you who have the audacity to slag off pro-boxers behind a moniker, yet haven't got the baws to step it up and do it yourself, its just far too easy for you to sit there and say "paper champion".
there are quite a few dumbasses on this site... you are certainly running for the top spot...just a look at your avatar is enough... :tired
Thank you for the link. But it's incredibly hard to believe that that Haye vs. Valuev was bigger in the UK than Lewis vs. Tyson. According to your figures, that fight had 750,000 buys and was the biggest heavyweight fight in UK history.
He is a paper champion. It's a fact, a world champ can say it and so can a "keyboard warrior" because it's true. Just like the sky is blue, no matter how deep you bury your head in the sand, David Haye will be a paper champion until he beats Wlad. Deal with it buddy :good.
If Haye beats Wlad, I will give him all the props he deserves (which will be a lot). I give credit where it is due, and likewise, I criticise when it is deserved.
