He wasnt upset when the fight was stopped the first time against Brewster, he was beat up too bad to continue.
Yeah Wlad was out of it after the first Brewster fight but it was a medical condition/exaustion not due to the punches he took. The ref stopped that fight between rounds while he was helping him to his corner.
Wrong again, first of all its called punching yourself out, Ali did it to Foreman and look what he was able to do. Second, the ref wraped his arms around Wlad and waved off the fight after Wlad was barely able to get back on to his feet after the bell sounded.
Try you tube, its like watching the Brewster fight a little bit. Wlad punches himself out in this one too, and gets pounded to the ground the 11th I think.
The ref tripped him (accidentally) after the bell and stopped it seconds later. He should definitely not have stopped it with 55 secs left in the interval wherein Wlad could have recovered. But in that case, it probably would not have made much difference.
The difference is, Ali was using (inventing) the rope-a-dope as astrategy to tire George out. There is no evidence that Lamon was thinking along those lines. He was KD'd, several times and won mainly as a result of a problem Wlad developed. There is some similarity but not much.
Wlad is known for his stamina issues, I dont know what Brewsters plan was during that fight but whatever it was it worked. If you remember before that fight one of his mentors died, he made the comment that Wlad would have to kill him to win. It was Brewsters night to shine, it couldnt of happend to a better guy IMO. I also heard now that Foreman is making lame excuses as well about being poisoned in the Ali fight, punching yourself is easy to do when your throwing alot of power punches especially. Both Forman and Wlad are big guys, its very easy to do when your that size.
And who was the fighter to give Wlad trouble in the ring, that would be Peter in september of 05. Peter did hurt Wlad a couple times and had him down as well, he unfortunatly smothered alot of his punches leaving Wlad to stay in the fight and win by UD. I think even the biggest Wlad lovers would agree Peter was his last tough fight, its because he put pressure on Wlad. Its not rocket science, its what you have to do beat or at least compete with Wlad, wouldnt you agree?
Brewster took a real beating but somehow pulled out the victory. Lost amid all the talk of poisoning and controversy was the courage Lamon showed that night. He earned that win the hard way. Some guys will tell u that u gotta kill them in the ring only to fold while guys like Brewster say it and mean it. Even the shell of Brewster had to be pulled from the second Wlad fight by McGirt. The heart was there but the fight had been taken out of him through serious beatings. I give credit to Wlad for winning the rematch cuz regardless of how Brewster looked he still had to go in and take care of business and he did just that.
Well put, Brewster might not be the best boxer out there but he does usually come to fight and always brings his big heart with him. The closest I came to shedding a tear for Brewster is when he beat Wlad the first time, it proved to me that will and determination can sometime overcome a talent like Wlad. The underdog won that night, and thats one fight I will never forget for the rest of my life.:good
Brock was knocked out, and Williamson was unable to continue so who knows what would of happend in that one. Brock never had Wlad hurt and Williamson did put Wlad down, but really wasnt much of a punch IMO. Peter had Wlad Hurt 2 times I believe, Wlad was hit in the back of the head as a result of him turning his back and putting his head down. The ref knows the rules better than me and you, so the knockdowns counted. In the Peter fight you felt a sense that Wlad was one punch away from hitting the canvas, which made the fight very interesting and exciting to the very end.
