bottom line is olympics are no longer amateur ...havent been for years now.... so why not have the best possible athlete in whatever sport it is for your country... why put in an 18 year old amateur when you could have a guy in the world top 10.....

.IMO its good for boxing.... could be a good experience for guys who are amateurs to go up against pros to gain very valuable experience instead of waiting until they turn pro.... IMO its positive all the way around

100% yes... olympic champ has status.... Haye loves that ****.... Haye would jump on that quick to boost his image in England... get the fans behind him to "win it for good old England"

of all the olympians i've heard speak on it... they all say the same thing. fighting in the olympics is the closest thing to a championship fight. especially in the medal rounds of competition. judging from what i see on tv...the house is always packed.

maybe this last olympics it was sold out... but it has been struggling for years... onto of that... look at the posts on this sight... the complaints about the boxing level, or lack of, was off the hook

Finals yes... all finals are packed... all medal rounds packed... go check out day 2-3 of pre-lims...... not full at all...... I still think for a boxing fan, if the pros get behind it... DREAM MATCH UP could and would happen....... I think it would be great

The olympic boxing thread was so popular it was made a sticky. Boxing at the london olympics was huge as it always is.

    But CHEF, seriously.

You should ask Wladimir if he is to participate in the wrestling tournament, I reckon he's got a great chance to win a gold medal, he's going to top Aleksandr Karelin!

Its not fair if world champions enter and cheat young guys out of an opportunity to win gold for country.

I don't know about other Olympics Chef but for London 2012 this was definitely not the case as it was completely sold out. I went to an early round of the competition and it was packed and had friends who were really keen to go but still couldn't get tickets. I only got mine as my friends brother (who was a talented jr. boxer) carried the flag for the UK team and so had a few tickets!
