I have never, ever ranked Wlad as an ATG. His china chin is around during the weakest ever era in heavyweight boxing. He does not trouble my all-time top 10. However......... should he turn the tables on Tyson Fury it suddenly makes his career interesting. I would would be forced to consider Wlad as a great if he wins the rematch. I would entertain the idea that maybe... just maybe... he might break into the top 10. It would be impressive.
You've seen a few grainy images of fights from the 30s and 50s and pretend you're an expert. Congratulations. You are as clueless as people today who didn't watch boxing in the 90s and look back at Lewis v Golota (for example) as a foregone conclusion, when in actual fact it was a 50-50 fight. I remember watching enough of the 80s fighters to know that Tyson, Spoon, Holmes and Tucker (to name a few) were a darn sight better than what we've had over the last 10 years. The fact that you disagree with that renders all you have to say on any subject at all irrelevant.
If Fury gets hit on the chin a few times (or maybe even once) he goes down. He was barely touched in the first fight. Pep threw more punches in that famous round than Wlad threw in the entire fight.
If there is anyway to tell if someone has real boxing knowledge , one determining factor is if they refer to Tim Witherspoon as merely "spoon" you know you're dealing with the REAL Boxing expert wjen you hear that Unless he's referring to Chaz, then forget I said anything. Lol
If he beats Wlad then he gets kudos for avenging a defeat, but ultimately it depends what Fury does in the future. Lewis rightly gets lambasted for losing to Rahman and credit for avenging the defeat. However, it doesnt really propell him up the ATG rankings.
