Sam Peter was a type of Tony Galento and he gave Wlad a tough time, especially the first time around. Could Galento do as well as Peter did?

Prime Peter was a tough customer, had way more technique, strength, and power than Foney Galento.
You're picking a bum who landed a lucky puch against Joe Louis against a modern 21st century heavyweight that made 20 defenses.

Vlad would be smart not to brawl with Galento. VK with just box from long range and stop Galento on cuts in 10 rds.

Wlad would destroy Galento. Wlad loved fighting short guys that he could keep on the end of his jab and then pulverise with counter-rights. He loved the little 6'2 guys that came to try close him down, eating shots as they came in and never quite catching up to him. Granted, Peter was 6'2, but he was muscle and about 6'2 wide as well. Galento was 5'9 and mostly fat.

Galento didn't have much footwork, and trying to close down an elusive giant like Wlad would have been beyond him of that I am sure. He's not as explosive as Peter, either.

If Wlad decided to brawl Tony, yeah, then Tony might have a chance (maybe even a good chance) because he could crack hard and had a really solid chin.

But Wlad wouldn't brawl with him.

He'd methodically break him down wih the jab on the outside, lean on him if by some misfortune he got close on the inside, and by about the 9th when Tony was turned into spaghetti bolognaise, Wlad might deem it safe enough to try for a KO. Or not. But he would win.

I don't know, I don't see how Peter's technique was much better or that he necessarily had more strength and power than Galento who was known as a pretty big puncher in his era. I'm not picking him over Wlad, but I am wondering if he could give as much trouble as Peter did

Great post. Though I did see a clip where Galento said he liked fighting tall guys "like 6'8, 6'9" because he felt that they were easier to beat.

Max Baer (221 lbs) vs Two-Ton Tony Galento (244 lbs) with
both fighters showing "excellent" boxing skills. LOL !

tough one for wlad, putting him in with a banger.

id galento is old, then perhaps wlad wins.

Would you happen to be the guy who had a gif of Ward talking about fighting at light heavy as an amateur?
