wlad Klitschko fighting in 70s

That's a rough estimate, don't be so quick to jump my friend.

 

He wouldn't be champion, considering who the champions were. Aliwould outbox him and knock him out. Frazier would knock him out, Wlad wouldn't be able to hit him, he can't throw uppercuts. Foreman would just destroy him, far too much power.
I think he'd beat Norton and he'd easily be the best in Europe. I think he'd be top ten.

He's be top 10 because of his shear size and athletic ability. I don't actually consider Wlad very good technically. He hasn't got very much variety. His defense is pretty much a little skip backwards or a clinch. He has a good left hook, jab and straight right hand but they are just functional. He tends to just jab, jab, left hook, or 1-2 etc. Just crashing that right hand home with brute force, relying on the power to get it through. I think if he fought someone with a bit of head movement and speed for once he'd find himself in a very difficult fight. These 70s guys would certainly inflict losses on him but he'd certainly have the power to knock them out too...


...Also, there is the fact of his GLASS JAW.

Depends who's driving doesn't it? Yes technology has advanced in car manufacture. That's not really relevant is it? Running is still running, gloves are still gloves, bags are still bags.

Klitschko's the best of a bad bunch, I think the top 3 guys of the strongest era in heavyweight history would all beat him. It's not nostalgia, it's the fact that they were better than he is.

Klitschko likely would beat most of the 70ies including Norton and Frazier.

Prime Foreman and Ali would be very interesting fights. But i think Klitschko has a good chance vs. both of them, because the sport is 40 years older and much more developed on nutrition and trainig regimes. Klitschko as a 6´6 1/2" guy is ridiciulous fast for his size. Compare for example Ernie Terrell to him...

So a lot of boxers of our era would beat most or all of the past eras. That a time factor. But its funny how many people do not accept this and wank on these old idols, if they would be invincible gods.

People who think klitschko would not play any role in the 70ies should stop posting on boxing boards. It cannot be denied, that Klitschkos punch, speed, ring generalship and footwork is on a world class level which makes him very, very hard to beat. Foreman and Ali need their absolute A-Game to win.

 

But I agree with u Ali, Foreman, Louis, Marciano,... were all GREAT champions, but u cannot compare, it's impossible

 

Oh really? Well then explain to me why Klitschko punched himself out in five rounds against Brewster and Joe Frazier could throw bombs for fifteen if he's so athletically superior. You're talking rubbish.

 

Another fantasy land thread. Can't find anyone to dethrone Wlad so lets conjure up fights of the imagination. A world where your fighter can beat anybody in your dreams.

 

Of course not, all the heavies are complete crap apart from Wlad and Vitali.

 

I think Wlad would do quite well in the 70's. He would not be champion, but he'd beat many of the fighters of that era. In his way of becoming a champion would be Ali, who would usually be favored over Wlad due to his [Ali's] speed, athleticism and will to win. And Foreman who's devastating power would crush Wlad every time.

 

Joe Frazier is no Lamon Brewster.

Ali is no Corrie Sanders.

Foreman is no Ross Purrity.

Wlad is 6'6", and he plays the guitar and speaks 4 languages.

 

and he's a good role model!
