That would be classified as wishful thinking on your part, nothing more nothing less....... Wlad KO'd Thompson twice, even faster in the 2nd fight but the first was a highlight reel nighty-night nappy time KO.
It just shows that Thompson wasn't finished and is probably still a top 10 contender who would give anyone bar wlad a competitive fight. Him vs Fury will be a real good indicator as to his future in the division.
Thompson's demolition job does show Wlad has not been fighting bums at all. Haye vs Audley, now that was a bum fight.
Thompson was and is finished. He showed up in horrible shape for a pay check. Im more than sure if the going got tough TT would have folded. He was just as surpirsed as anyone that he KO'd Price.
Like he said, he weren't worried about weight, he was worried about condition and he was able to weather a storm and take price out with one shot. He weren't surprised he won, he's always been confident in his ability. A finished fighter doesn't stop a hot prospect Olympian in 2 rounds.
As far as Thompson's weight is concerned, it's much harder to drop weight when you get older and Tony is 41 year old. Since he's a Heavyweight anyway, he probably decided it was better if he didn't try too hard to look the part and just concentrated on his gameplan.
The punch didn't look that great but it did hit him right behind the ear, where it's known to have a large impact on one's equilibrium. Very similar to the right hand that put Solis on his fat ass against Vitali. That punch was directly to the temple, also known for it's effect on balance.
Well obviously so. What you call a soft punch was hard enough to rupture and ear drum and sit a 6'8 30 year old man on his arse.
If there was some leverage weight and thunder behind it i would agree but there wasnt. Fighters get hit on the ear and temple many times over during fights. A fighter coming out of the AM's known for being chinny gets KO'd by a weak punch. TT himself joked about being out of shape and training on donut juice.
boxing isn't as black and white as that. Anyone can be stopped by a punch they don't see coming. His left hand should never have been that low, but it was and TT still had enough about him to capitalise. As I said, he's far from finished and I look forward to seeing him against fury if the fight gets made.
