In 1999 holyfield had signed to fight Lewis in a unification match. But Lewis drops out due to injury. So holyfield signs to fight wlad klitschko. Despite a impressive size disadvavntage, holyfield s team are confident, if purrity can stop him so can the real deal. So who takes it. Twelve rounds for the IBF title?

Wladmir Klitschko by decision. Holyfield skills were really in decline by that point.

Holyfield was 36-37 years old in 1999, a veteran of many tough fights and past his best. Wlad was 22-23 in 1999.

I like Wlad on points, but its not an easy call.

If it were 2000 or Beyond, Wlad wins, likely stopping the older warrior.

Old Holyfield would lose. Young Holyfield might win.

Hoyfield defintely wins this by UD. Wlad too young and inexperienced, not trained by Steward.
Wlad was more stationary back then with flaws, Holyfield moves around and scores enough to win a decision.

Do u see holyfield holding Lewis to a draw having any bearing on this fight, if it had taken place. Would this holy have enough gas in the tank to take wlad. I have a feeling he could take this one. Wlad may still be feeling the purrity loss, maybe a little gun shy.

I meant Holy from the rematch, that was sort of his last hurah. That Holy wins a UD

Holy from the 1st fight might actually lose a UD to Wlad, cause he was just looking for the big shot and was not sharp

In December 1998 Wlad was stopped by Ross Purity.

Interesting observation. Holyfield in the first fight was looking to ko Lewis in the third round. That for some reason was his prediction. Obviously it didn't happen but he would have come in to the wlad fight confidence high. He'd beaten tyson and moorer so he'd have come in all guns blazing.
