Inspired by another thread about the Russians v. the ATG's, I pose this one to the readers of ESB Classic. 15 rounds. Who wins it?
Hard on to call. Swarmers don't match up well with punchers. To be honest i wouldn't be surprised to see Frazier get blown out early. He always started slow and took a beating early on (Quarry, Ellis, Bonavena, Ali, Foreman). Until Foreman however they were not huge punchers so he could soke it up and come back stronger. I think Klitschko is one the heaviest punchers there have been and that would be bad news for Frazier early. Frazier also lacks the one-punch KO power to capitalise early on Wlad's chin, but if he survives the beginning, he can definitely grind him down to a stoppage in the mid/late rounds.
Klitschko has never had to deal with someone that would be on him, as Frazier would attempt to be close to him all fight long. Frazier has never had to face an athlete with Wladamir's size. If the fight goes for more than 12, I don't think it would go to 15. Frazier's pressure would win for him before then. I just don't think Frazier could stand up to Wlad's punches that long. I think the fight would get waved of somewhere around the 8th.
What about a left hook or foot movement? Something else to consider how hard it is for a 5'11 man with short arms to hit a 6'6 fighter who fights tall and has great footwork on the chin. Watch Tua vs Lewis. Of course Tua is no Frazier and Wlad is no Lewis, and not that it is impossible or anything, but it's much harder than a 6'3 or smaller target.
Frazier would be going to the body a fair bit, as he always did. Whenever height differences are discussed here, there's a lot of talk about how the shorter fighter would have a lot of difficulty. Maybe, but when we're talking good fighters or great fighters, these things aren't so important. Great fighters who are short for their weight class generally know how to turn that to their advantage. I seem to remember David Tua got thoroughly outboxed by the 6' Byrd, and for many rounds by Fres Oquendo (who cant be much more than 6'1 or 6'2) too. I think Tua was shorter than Frazier though. Also, I think height and weight differences are often imagined as being so much more visually noticeable or significant in these imaginary match-ups than they tend to be in real life. People here sometimes imagine Joe Louis as being "dwarfed" by fighters who really only have an inch of height and 10-20 pounds on him, people say "dwarfed", against fighters who weren't that much bigger than him. Same with Dempsey, who actually doesn't look THAT much smaller than 6'3 and 216 pound Firpo on film. If Foreman had never fought Qawi people might believe Dwight would have trouble reaching his kneecaps !
Joe's height is 5′ 11½″ and wlads smallest opponents height is/was exum speight 6'0, 207 lb and he was heavier than average size Frasiers opponent, atleast about his weight.
This is a difficult fight to call. Had Frazier been born in Klitschko's era he likely would have weighed around 230 lbs and would have been a wee bit taller. This means Wlad would still have a significant height advantage but not an overwhelming weight advantage. In all likelihood, Wlad would dominate the first couple of rounds with his excellent boxing, movement and sharp hitting. He could hurt Frazier and might even get him out of there for a quick ending. If Joe could get out of this critical period unscathed, things would start to get interesting as Frazier could be a real comer once he got warmed-up. Joe could hurt his foe, more particularly with his fabled left hook, as Wlad's chin is nothing to write home about. But Wlad has a great heart and can recoup as he showed against Sam Peter. As I said at the outset, a difficult fight to call. Could go either way. But one thing is certain - it would be great fight.
The guy's only sharing his opinion. Something that you don't seem to hold off on doing. To tell you the truth, I agree with him. Both Klits would tower over Frazier, and had more than enough power to put him down early. The only problem I see here, is Wlad's weakness for the left hook, but I don't know if Joe can land on him the way that some of those other guys did given their sizable reach. Vitali vs Frazier is a no brainer. too much size, too much chin, too much strength, too much period....
sorry i did not realize that giving an opinion could not be questioned..I will PM you and ask for permission next time
frazier would get under that big bitchs jab and ping him multiple times with that left hook. thats how i see it, frazier going to the body and then ripping wlads chin apart with left hooks and right uppercuts
