Liston by KO in 2-4 rounds.

 

Wlad is a great fighter but if u were picking one fighter whom I thought was the worst for him Liston may be it. Listons busy hands accompanied w power in both spells a bad night for Wlad.

 

Early career, aggressive Wlad, the one who fought Sanders, is a shoot-out.

Either man can win depending on who lands the big one first. I would favour Sonny by a small margin.


Later career , safety-first Wlad, the one who fought Wach or Thomson, is a more boring, clinching affair.

Wlad's size and strength give him an edge here and I lean towards the Ukrianian on points.

 

Liston knocks Wlad out in the middle rounds.

 

The Emmanuel Lewis trained Wlad jabs and clutches his way to a UD. Liston was easily demoralized and getting jabbed constantly by a man who wouldn't engage would take away his aggressiveness.

 

It would start as a jabbing contest between two of the best jabbers of all time. Liston had longer arm length while Wlad had greater height. Both could be hurt and stopped. If Sonny gets Wlad in trouble early the way that Sanders did then it might be over quickly. But If the more cautious and stregic Wladimir of the Manny Steward camp shows up then this might go a while. It’s hard to imagine Liston doing much on the inside given Wlad’s excellent tendency to tie men up as well as having such immense size and strength to do it with. Not an easy pick. I think it go either way.

 

Wladimir stops Liston 90/100, outpoints him 9/100 and loses 1/100.

Liston does not have the chin, heart or boxing ability to win. He was happy feasting on fat LHWs and tiny HWs. He quit against powder puncher Clay.

 

Absolutely no basis for this whatsoever.

Liston-Clay II: Liston takes a dive after facing an unafraid, mobile opponent.
Liston-Leotis Martin: faced with an unafraid and mobile opponent, Liston crumbles and gets KTFO.

Liston-Clay I: Liston was at the very youngest 34 years old, and according to the most recent official data we have 43-44 at the time of the fight. Contemporary doctors estimated his age to be 38 to 41. He'd had less than 6 minutes of ring time in the last three years, and had a known shoulder injury going into the bout confirmed by the commission

Liston-Clay II: Nobody knows what happened here.

Liston-Leotis Martin: lol! I'll just leave it at that. Aside from Liston's age at the time, I doubt you've even watched the fight. Liston certainly didn't "crumble". He was gassed. Understandably at that age, and with the flu (which Foreman, his sparring partner states he had at the time). If he "crumbled" mentally he would've quit long before the 9th when he was gasping for air.

If he was so "easily demoralized" to quit at the first sight of adversity, why didn't he quit when Williams broke his nose, and staggered him? Or when Marshall broke his jaw? Or when Valdez shut his eye?

 

You're making excuses for Sonny. We all know what happened in Clay Ii: he quite, again. Maybe it was due to Nation of Islam threats, maybe the mob told him to take a dive, one way or another he went down via a Phantom punch.

He was gassed because he was losing and he knew it. Sure, flu, whatever.

I stand by what I said: a motivated, Steward trained Wlad wins. Certainly Sonny could get a ko, maybe a 25% chance. Wlad labs, moves (like Ali), wins.
