I doubt very much Wlad will ever meet an ATG, or any great, small or otherwise. I would not with confidence pick any of those to beat him, Moore, possibly has the best chance.

I think i'd make Jersey Joe Walcott a 50.50 pop at this one, I genuinely think that this is a pick 'em. Walcott has such a quick transfer of balance, such a smooth yet unatural way of moving in and out, and hits with such genuine power that I think he could get in and land that shot. The problem is, Wlad has been down and survived before, and Walcott is going to get KO'd if he tries to swarm him when hurt, probably, so Walcott has to, conversely, be pateint and score early on his bigger opponent, in my opinion. However, Wlad's cautios style does not save him from Walcott's mystery moves, he can't "react" in the normal way for me, so I think the chances are high. Walcott could land a perfect punch, and he could also make Wlad cautios enough to steal rounds with a possible KD making the difference. Wlad could land the bomb or he could edge a naughty decision. Close fight IMO.

Moore would be #2 on my list. Moore is a trapsmith and an elegant one. He has a good defence, good mobility and he hits hard on the right spots with near unparalleled timing. So far so good. The problem is you have to bait a guy to trap him. I don't think Wlad takes any kind of bait, he jabs Moore to death. He struggles to get him clean, but little by little he's nailing him down, forcing Moore to take chances. Moore isn't slow but he doesn't have the speed to cover that kind of distance without getting nailed. Wlad KO 8-12.

I might bunk here. The Lounge is a bit too hectic for old people like me.

So you are saying that you'd rate them on par with Wlad ? Based on what ?

Well, there were no good big men back then or at least they could not get past the better small men....Willard,Primo and Buddy Baer were the best men over 6"3 until Riddick Bowe and Lewis and now the Klitscko's but it is funny there losses were all to smaller men then themselves and there were no Joe Louis's around in the last 20 years or so thank goodness for all these big guys

Believe it or not, a prime RJJ would win an easy decision...Every other guy on this list gets killed though.

Also, Frazier and Tyson were much smaller and they'd beat the crap out of Wlad... Jerry Quarry would make Wlad wish he had chosen another sport when he'd walk through his punches like a lion through tall grass and fire back immediately.:admin:admin

This is basically how I see it as well. While Byrd, Brock and Chambers were not exactly masters of the sweet science, their skills were certainly above average, and furthermore, were bigger men than most of the guys on Mcgrain's list, yet none of them could do anything to penetrate that jab and get any work done.

They weren't, and its as simple as that.. Wlad was still a much larger man with far greater athletic ability, and perhaps even greater skill.. Nino Valdez was a man who was not very consistent and lost a large number of his fights.. Hein Tenoff was a good fighter, but hardly top 20 all time great material..
