Wlad and Holmes are/were both champs during weak eras for the heavyweight division. How would they compare head to head?

First off theheavyweight division has llways been as it is really, the best period for heavyweights would be the late twentys to fifties Id say.As to the question I'd pick Holmes purely because I think he is criminally underated,he was a better heavyweight than Ali ever was. That said even though I pick Larry to win this would be no easy fight for him,Wladimir is no easy fight for anyone.

Larry Holmes had no real knockout power, so after a few rounds wk would feel that holmes can't hurt him and will fight very open and probably knock him out between round 9 and 12

When you really think about it, Wlad's only weakness is not his chin, his only weakness is against southpaws. The chin thing is getting old and stale. The only time he has ever been outboxed was against a big quick southpaw. This was pre-Steward, so we have to take that into account. Wlad could not KO Ibragimov. I think it had a lot to do with Ibragimov being a southpaw too. Guys, southpaws are tricky. There is no denying it.

Holmes is nothing close to a southpaw, and Wlad has outboxed every orthodox fighter he has ever faced. Holmes would get hit more often than Wlad, and as the rounds added up, the damage on Holmes would add up too. Today's Hw champs fight in new dimensions, their height, size, power, athletism for their height is incredible.

Wlad would TKO Holmes in 10 rounds.

Much as I rate Larry Holmes he was'nt better than ALi!

However he was better than WK will ever be and would outpoint Wlad easily.

I did consider whether LH would win by KO.

I can't see Holmes getting passed Wlads jab often enough or having enough power to hurt Wlad when he did.

I think Wlad would stay in control of the centre of the ring and control the pace of the fight and win a UD.

    Holmes by late KO.

Holmes is the better boxer with the better jab. WLad has never been in with somebody near the skill level of Holmes. You are talking about guys like Ibrahmigov, this is the great Larry Holmes for chris sake!!

Holmes is not much quicker(if he is) then Waldo. Waldo is ****ing quick giant. Their styles pretty much look alike but holmes sometimes had to go trick coz he has no power(mercer fight when he spend half of the fight in a corner).

What do you mean past his jab?

Holmes has the best jab EVER at heavyweight. Holmes would outjab the bigger man. Wlad does everything of his jab, if he can't establish his jab it is pretty much over for him...

    Holmes by late KO

I really doubt that holmes has power to hurt Wlad. And i cant see wlad gassed out(shavers). Holmes was flored by Snipes who is not even 10% puncher like Wlad.

We are talking about prime Larry Holmes and not the 40 year old version. The Holmes that beat Kenny Norton in 1978.

Holmes had very quick and accurate right hand. The accumulate punishment could add up in the later rounds. But you are right it is debatable, it is also possible Holmes would win by decision.
