Yep he lost. But never the less he wasn't in his prime and one of this loses was a suspicious. But I CAN see how holmes got blasted out by sanders if he would not prepare.

Sure, and his jab was amazing too. I still think he gets KO'd mid rounds due to the sheer power & size difference.

Yes he can get hit but for how long? Shavers is a great puncher but crappy boxer with no ability to finish an opponent. Conney is nothing special. Neither speed or power. Norton is not a great puncher also. Good boxer but not a puncher.

fair point, wlad is better conditioned aswel
but i think a prime holmes could handle a 12 rounder

i should not of said that the fight will be easy, but i still stand by my view of a late ko over wlad

thats better. But my guess is that accumulative damage is not the way to beat wlad.

I watched the Holmes-Cooney fight again today. Cooney won 4 rounds out of 13. I don't know what fight those judges were watching having it so close. Anyway, if a one armed fragile Chinned Gerry 'Nooney' Cooney could hang in there with Holmes it is foolish to say Wlad Klitschko would get destroyed.

I am not saying Wlad would win but either way the fight would not be a blowout either way and Klitschko has 20 pounds on Cooney and is essentially the same height with better skills.

There is no doubt in my mind Vitali Klitschko would beat Larry Holmes who fought in a Heavyweight era not much different from what we have today.

Maybe, if Wlad and Vitali are lucky, they can go to Canastota and visit the International Hall of Fame, and they can ask the manager if they can enter the special Glass Humidified Vault where they keep one of Larry's jockstraps, still warm and moist with sweat from his groin from the Norton fight, and they can take turns wiping each others face with it. Then, in 10 days, between the 2 of them, maybe one pair of balls will sprout.

Larry lost when he was old, and he lost to great fighters. Wlad lost to...??? Vitali lost to...??? Size mans nothing in this sport when you have technique. Holmes had the style to beat both guys. Wlad and Vitali have not consistently fought on the level of a Holmes.

If we want to talk about size( which really doesn't mean much in this match-up.) Larry Holmes and Klitschko have the same reach, 81". Holmes is only 3" shorter than Wlad, not much of a size difference as some make it out to be.

I'll take the guy with the superior jab which is most definetly Holmes in this case; it's the best in history. Holmes UD or late TKO.

Larry lost to a light heavyweight. Twice. That is disgraceful in itself. I know he was older but he still lost.

My only point on this topic is that if Gerry Cooney could hang in there with Holmes and not get destroyed than so could either Klitschko.

Nothing you say will ever change the fact that it took Larry Holmes 13 rounds to get rid of Gerry Cooney. Cooney would get smashed by either Klitschko.

I have always said that if there had never been an Ali, we would be calling Larry the Holmes THE GREATEST! Holmes was an amazing fighter. A jab like a jack hammer and a heart the size of Phlly. One of the longest reigning champs in history.

Can you imagine if Gerry Cooney would have landed the left hook on Wlad's china chin?

Then nothing can change the fact that Wlad got smashed by Purrity, Sanders and Brewster. Surely Holmes would get rid of them all easily.
