Holmes himself said he never felt the love of the fans until after a few rounds in the Mercer fight. Caning a washed up Ali didn't help his reputation in people's eyes either. I recall people being overjoyed that Tyson KO'd him, my godfather who was a huge Marciano fan was ecstatic about that for ages after the fight.

Wlad, A 6 7" 245 pound pound heavyweight with good skills (yes, I believe Wlad has good skills despite what some say) and a sledge hammer jab would give any fighter problems.

I just think Holmes, despite the size difference, has the superior skills and would beat him.

Holmes could be a complete **** at times, especially concerning his unprovoked remarks about Marciano

(Not sure how that hypothetical would have turned out head-head. I have Holmes and Marciano tied at 5 in my alltime Heavywt list. But Marciano would have murdered him if it happened in a parking lot, even if Larry got to start things with a leap from a truck)

But even as a Klitschko fan, I would have to pick Holmes over either Wlad or Vitali.

Vitali would definitely go the distance and be competitive.

    Wlad ?

    Maybe....

    Maybe not.

Fair points I must admit...it's been going on since time began. I remember Tyson was something of a joke figure to Ali fans until he lost to Douglas then somehow he became more accepted because he proved he could take a hellacious beating, same with Ali, until he got beaten up by Frazier he was considered a *****. Maybe WALDO will get a real beating soon and earn his respect, but I doubt it as it's been seen a few times what happens when WALDO gets hit, he folds. That is the point here.....

Have you ever seen the shot that Shavers landed on Holmes? Full force haymaker from probably the hardest hitting HW that ever lived and Holmes got up and survived the ****-storm that followed and went on to win the fight. I can't say this for sure, but it's my opinion that if Shavers had hit WALDO with that shot back in the late 70's then WALDO would still be on the canvas now.

Ya, and Daniel Hannan STILL has Gordon Brown down, so....

6'0 even Shavers wouldnt have put a glove on Wlad, and Wlad wouldve tapped that terrible chin in the 1st 6 rounds

If Shavers landed on Wlad, Wlad's leg would still be quivering ala Ingemar post Patterson's left hook in the second fight.

All your post does is demonstrate that Holme's recuperative powers are superior along with the rest of his skill set.

I was a huge Holmes fan back in the day and I wasn't pleased that Tyson KO'd him, wasn't pleased that Holmes even took the fight but when you watch the replays today Holmes even at the age he was gave quite a good account of himself until the bomb dropped. Holmes still claimes (rightly or wrongly) that he wasn't given time for a full training camp for that fight and that's why he lost....probably pride talking but was Douglas better than the Holmes that embarrassed Mercer? I say no, personally. That Mercer fight cemented Holmes legacy in many ways as far as I'm concerned, this was a guy that went life and death with Lewis remember, and old as **** Holmes just owned him. One of my favourite fights :good

Why do you idiots always have to bring height into it, as though it means something :D:D:D

Brewster listed at 6'2 right? why dont YOU tell me why a perfectly tuned athlete was out on his feet after takin little to no punishment from Brewster?

Daniel Hannan still has Gordon Brown on the canvas chief and there he shall stay:good
