I am doubtful as to if Ibragimov's handlers will allow him to take this risk, even if it does promise Sultan's big payday to date (which it most certianly will).


I don't think they'll let a big payday lure them away from keeping the WBO title safely around Sultan's waist, so he can milk it by fighting a string of C level opponents like Thompson. But I hope I am wrong.

When Sultan recently said he wanted to unfiy the titles, I hope that also meant that to include Wladimir Klitschko, but I doubt he did...........But again, I hope I am wrong.

As if you can't already tell, I don't have much faith in Ibragimov being willing to fight Wlad. Sultan likes being undefeated, and more importantly, he likes having one of the title too much to take that risk.

 

Only against Briggs really. The Austin fight he was just perplexed and all of his early fights he was very aggressive and threw a bunch of punches.

I may be wrong about Sultan.

On a certian site that is very confidentail about boxing, there is an article about this possible fight. Read the first and last paragraphs.

Even the word definite was used by one of Sultan's cornermen. I realize we shouldn't get overly excited til its announced, but from the sound of that article, and from what Sultan's cornerman had to say, it certainly sounds like this fight is very likely, if not extremely likely. But, we shall see.

I may be eating crow when I said Sultan won't fight Wlad. I hope he does prove me wrong, as I've love to be wrong, in this case.

Ibragimov vs. Klitschko will be a big fight. Probably the biggest heavyweight fight since Lewis. And most importanlty, it'll finally start to bring unification of the titles..............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Wlad will destroy Iggy, Iggy dont even got any aggression in the ring anymore, and honestly whos going to out box Wlad right now.

Wlad wants this fight because its easy, Iggy last 2 fights were against has been and a never was, anyone who thinks Iggy has a good chance of winning is dead wrong.

 

What fight for Wlad right now isn't easy??

It's so easy because he's another step above every other guy in the division.

Im not saying he is or isn't, but guys who are more agressive and apply more pressure on Wlad ussually do better against him. Guys like Peter and Sanders pressured Wlad, Sanders destroyed Wlad by the 2nd round and Peter gave Wlad all he could handle in there match.

If you want to give Wlad a challange put him up against a Peter, Chagaev, or a Valuev. Wlad will have his chin tested against all 3 of them in my IMO, and then will see how good Wlads chin really is.

 

Good to hear there are negs for unification.

I hope Thompson keeps cool and fights the winner.

Haters can only be people who never stood in a ring and fought. Everybody who knows, what it means to stand in a ring show respect for every fighter!

I want unification, but I rather have competitive matches the public will want to see. Iggy/Wlad is not a match many people want to see, how could HBO market such a lame matchup?

 

Not many people will want to see the recognized numbero uno heavyweight and IBF champion fight the undefeated WBO champion in the first unification fight in 8 years?:-(

I now realize that we can't convince you of the obvious. Believe what you want, that's fine.But believe me, people with your outlook on the importance of unification probably amount to about .005% of boxing fans.


99.995% of boxing fans KNOW how dire, needed, and important unification is to the suffering heavyweight division and its future health. And ANY unifying fight is MUCH more important that a mere single fight that may be more competitive. And once one fighter has two titles, the obvious then, will be the second unfiying fight, and so on. So while you prefer Chag to fight Wlad, you gotta realize that the long term effect of Sultan fighting Wlad now, will help to increase the chances of a second titleholder fighting Wlad (or Sultan) in the future. One of the remaining two being Chagaev.


But, to each his own. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, regardless of how many others strongly disagree with you.

 

You are more respectful and one of the few Wlad fans I like on here, at least you hear people out.

I understand most serious boxing fans including myself understand the importance of unification, but Im talking about the average fans too. Most people want to see hyped up fights like a Peter/Wlad rematch or fight of the giants Wlad/Valuev, these are marketable fights that can attract more fans to the unpopular heavywieght division.

I will give you an example Tyson/Lewis was the most PPV sales at that time, yet most serious boxing fans knew Lewis was going win and shouldve of been that hyped up. On the other hand you have the Calzaghe/Kessler one of the most important fights in years and it dont even have a countdown show on HBO, people want the hype of fights to get interested in it. Heavywieght boxing needs to hype the fighters more and create more compelling matchups for the average fan to get into it.

 

"Fake boxing fan" has chosen to remain amongst us, yet still he spews bull****.

Any true fan of boxing would be singing Wlad's praises as he will save the HW division from being mediocre.
