He's not the only one who claims the division is **** yet they always posts about it. Wladimir will never be "thug" enough for those fools.

So basically to become respected in the eyes of many instead of giving away hundreds of thousends of dollars to children in need he should be robbing blind beggars, selling crack to school kids in Brooklyn and beating on housewives?

    I'm fine with this one.

I know there are a handful of better-known opponents out there, but this gets Wlad's WBO mandatory out of the way and I think Thompson is a guy that he should be able to look like a destroyer against. Thompson's come-forward and busy style will make for a much better fight.

Thompson deserves this ahead of Povetkin, he secured his mandatory spot about 5 months before Alexander did.

I'm looking forward to this one more than Wlad-Sultan, let's put it that way.

I think it´s good, as long as the fight takes place within a resonable amount of time and Wlad (assuming he wins) manages to fight once more after that this year.

I think there are worthier opponents for Wlad, like Chagaev, Valuev or the Peter/Maskaev winner, but Thompson earned his shot in a fair way, and had to wait while Sultan fought both Holyfield and Wlad. I also think it might be a good fight in the way that we might just get to see a big KO from Klitschko.

Alexander Povetkin earned his shot long after Thompson, so he´ll have to wait. I hope Wlad can just beat both of them this year and start 2009 by unifying. Let´s just hope the alphabets don´t stack up mandatories for him as soon as he´s done with these two - and prevent him from unifying further.

But isn't a unification bout equal to a mandatory defense? I thought it was stated in the rules of all these organizations. No?

:good You got it! He doesn't even threaten the unborn children of his opponents! The nerve!

I think Wlad needs to add some English curse words to his vocabulary, maybe a real potty mouth like Toney could help him out.

I think it's a good enough opponent & it's hard to bash a fighter for fighting his mandatory defense. It's not like he gets to pick his mandatory after all.

How is it hard? Actually I think it's quite easy. Bashing was all Wlad got for beating Austin, his IBF mandatory

Don King hand picked Austin to be Klitschko's mandatory. Proof is in the fact that he only got a draw in his previous fight vs. Sultan.

    I'm aware you're just being sarcastic. :D

Wlad says he wants to be active. Good for him. So its Thompson first, and then perhaps the winner of Chagaev vs Valuev down the road?

Actually, no. Povetkin is next in line after Thompson. Given that Wlad gets past Thompson. Which is not a given. You know, glass jaw, no heart, clumsy footwork, no technique — all of these things are going to be painfully evident AGAIN, just like in his last 5 fights.

LOL. Whatever you say. Wlad has plenty of heart, and top technique. His footwork is great, and if Thompson tries to get agessive, fans will see a big knockout.

This is not an HBO-worthy fight. THIS is why boxing is in such a mess right now, people don't know who the champs are and those who do have belts are forced to fight guys no one has ever heard of or be stripped of that belt. I'm a huge boxing fan and have been for quite some time, but I think I'm done with the heavyweights for now.
