oh yeah and i forgot to mention his lack of defense too, as is evident from the pics you posted in another thread. After all, we all know the truth - he's just big.
Another fight I expected to happen. Thompson had not much time left to wait for a title shot and that's how the WBO works - I wouldn't be surprised if the WBO had requested to Klitschko's manager ( and to Sultan's) for an immediate title defense as a condition to unify... Wladimir has to beat Thompson and Povetkin which is the same as to say that there won't be further unification fights with Wladimir coming soon.
This should be a good fight because Thompson appears (according to some past interviews anyway) to not fear Wlad and is one of those that thinks that the best way to beat him is to rush into him. He's also a large man and that alone makes him think that he is on even par with Wladimir (huge mistake). So, taking all these things into account, I expect to see a fight where Thompson at least tries to attack Wlad and comes forward. The problem of course is that Wlad's hands will be crashing into the face of Thompson as he attempts this. KO by Dr. K in round 2.
You know, I feel sad for Iggy. Maybe Wlad should just give him back his belt. Anyway, he beat him. Everyone saw it. It's in the record book and all. Give him back the belt and either fight the IBF mandatory, or go after the WBC or WBA champ next.
No. Otherwise, unifications would be happening all over the place. This is a big part of the unification problem - the 2 champs each have to manage their mandatories within certain time limits or be stripped, so it's manytimes difficult to find a time when both are available. And, of course, plenty of promoters would rather have an ABC champ than see him try to unify, but the mandatories are an obstacle, too.
I have no problem with this fight. I think Thompson is pretty underrated and is going to give Wlad a good fight. He has a good jab and comes forward. His reach is as long as Wlad's so it shouldn't just turn into a Wlad jabbing show from the outside. Thompson is a good example of when the mandatories actually work. A fighter without much economic value to generate big $, southpaw, long jab, dangerous. Without a mandatory, he might never have gotten a shot. With regards to Povetkin, he is nowhere near ready for Wlad. I think Wlad could ruin him at this stage of his career. I would be shocked if Povetkin's team actually petitions to have the mandatory enforced against Wlad. His strengths right now are based upon his workrate. Chambers hit him with way too many hard shots. I'd much rather see Povetkin lined up to face Chagaev.
Klitschko deliberately keeps his fights off of PPV so I really don't know what the hell you're talking about
Anybody home? I'll repeat: Wlad deliberately keeps his fights off of PPV, so what in the hell are you talking about?
News flash Povetkins manager is trying to play the "Wlad is ducking Alex" card. He just said in an interview that Wlad fighting Thompson next is undecided yet and the only way Thompson can get ahead of Povetkin is only if Klitshko wants it that way.
