Most cant, but facts are facts. I feel Wlad very talented and possibly an ATG physically, mentally he's anything but. If look closely at his fights over the years, you will come to the realization that Wlad is only good when he's doing the punching, and after being caught by a solid punch, he usually clinches, panics, and falls to the canvas numerous amount of times. Dealing with adversity of any kind is not his strong suit, I just feel he's lucky enough to be in such a weak heavyweight era that he could get away with it most of the time, if Wlad's prime was in the 90's, he wouldnt of lasted long, and I really debate wether or not he would held a title or not, if so it wouldnt of been for an extended period of time IMO.
if wlad was in the 90's, he'd easily be top 5. lewis was tops and would be very hard for wlad to dethrone. other than that, he can compete and beat holyfield, bowe, post-prison tyson, etc. he could lose to them as well but id say he'd be around #3. he'd put tommy morrison and michael moorer in a morgue and would just hammer old george foreman. true he doesnt handle punches well but i think holyfield, bowe, and tyson would have a really hard time landing. as far as prime tyson vs. current wlad, id love to say wlad but id go with Tyson ko 4. But im telling u, vitali could give him a hell of a fight and if he survived early, tyson would be up against it. vitali's size could wear tyson down and mike rarely had any late kos. close to a 50-50 fight imo
Thats a fair post, and quite accurate indeed. Out of the guys you named, I would not favor Wlad in any of them, though him beating Holyfield wouldnt totally surprise me. I also think guys like Ike, Mccall, and Bruno could give him trouble and probably beat him IMO. Wlads mental strength is very weak for a top notch fighter, the man crumbles under pressure, and I cant imagine Tyson or Bowe not giving him trouble. There both heavy handed, good chins, and Bowe especially, would do a number on Wlad on the inside, while Tyson aggression would be enough to put Wlad on his back like he's in tanning bed. Peter is not the same league as Tyson 95-96, and he made Wlad look pretty bad early on, I could only imagine what someone with good overall boxing skills would do to him, if Tyson got him hurt it would be over that round or the next.
how many of those '90s guys had a chin and style like peter. 90's tyson imo couldn't have survived what peter went through. Ike, Mccall, Bruno? ike is too big of ? mark. he didnt face a enough guys to get a good feel. If u think wlad is stiff, bruno made wlad look like ali. mid-rounds ko for wlad. bruno's build was not conducive to going long distances. Mccall is overrated it's ridiculous. his whole career is based on 1 punch. yes, he has a great chin, but his only chance would be if wlad gassed himself. he's not skilled enough to deal with wlad. holyfield and prime bowe could certainly beat wlad but they are pick'em fights imo. holyfield is a natural counter-puncher. u saw the problems he had touching lennox. he would have similar problems against wlad. prime bowe would be a very hard fight though. i could see bowe winning 2 of 3 or vice versa.
Fair enough, but Ike's 5 round knockout win over Bryd was more impressive than Wlads first showing against Bryd, he also went toe to toe with the hardest punching Heavyweight at the time in Tua, and won. Mccall had not only a granite chin, but a one hitta quitta as well, he knocked out both Lewis and Awkinwande with it in the 10th round of a fight he was losing. Bruno probably wouldnt beat Wlad, but he would stand a chance, he's a very heavy handed fighter with a jab that is not to far away from Wlads in power. All in all, it would come down to Wlad mental strength, or lack there of it. I just cant see Wlad surriving against Tyson at anytime during the 90's, his style is made to beat Wlads 9 out of 10 times, I would expect Wlad to get knocked out early when the pressure begins to be too much for him.
Slap yourself! I've seen every Tyson fight since his early days against Steve Zouski, Bonecrusher Smith, Biggs, Carl the truth Williams, etc.
You're forget youtube. Is that really matter where you get your info? Some one has skills to see and analyze what he see..Emanuel Stewart is good example about that. Poor fighter, but really good eyes to see and develop good strategy. Shot Tyson lost totally unskilful, slow and weak chinned fighter, who was much taller and heavier 6'6, 271 lb and his strategy was just holding in close.
