I think Wlad has about 3-8 fights (2-3 years more before he decides to pack it in, He will be 37 in April and will have close to 70 fights and near 40 years of age which is a lot for a heavyweight. I think these fights in the near future

    2013 Povetkin, Pulev, Chris Areola
    2014 Tyson Fury,Helenius, David Price ?
2015 Detontay Wilder, depending how D.W. advances

thoughts and if he wins all of these how would his legacy stack up with the top 5

I envision him breaking my top 5 before he retires.

like you said 5 more fights and retirement. If he loses he retires. I don't think he has the motivation to come back from a loss anymore.

Id be surprised if he ever fights any of them. Maybe Povektin next. That will be good name for him if he wins.

Arreola is being gift wrapped the WBC Mexican title and already turned down 2 offers against him in 2012 they won't fight in 2013.

2013 Povetkin, Pulev, Helenius (possible WBO mandatory) or Fury

Beyond 2013 it's hard to speculate as alot depends on the prospects but Glazkov, Price, Abdusalamov, Ortiz, Szpilka, Jennings, Dinu are the top candidates. If he goes undefeated for the next 2 0r 3 years with around 6 wins over these guys it will be another decade before we will really be able to judge, waiting to see what the prospects accomplish through their own careers.

there is also a question when guys are champions and they fight often, they fight guys who are not experienced enough and who would have developed into better fighters had they been given time to get experience. But most fighters take the fight if they can fight the champion. They say a champion runs out of competition when this happens, but sometimes if he fights 3 or 4 times a year, he can get good fighters when they are still developing and it is easier. Not saying it is not legit.

Povetkin, Pulev, Helenius, Fury all could have had fights with him already but declined, they're taking their time. Volodymyr's situation is pretty much the opposite of what you're describing.

He might retire sooner than that.
    He's almost 37.

But he gets paid well for easy fights and obviously enjoys it.

When was Pulev ever offered a fight? AK pulled out once nearly 5 years ago with an injury and 3 years ago because of Atlas. AK and Hunrov have been after the fight for a while but Wlad doesn't want it.

Bounty and Wlad have made a business out of boxing with their slave contracts and the referee's they have on the payroll, they are not in it to take any risks. There is stiff comp out there waiting to get at him and i expect he'll check out before hes made fight them.

His legacy will be that of a dominant champion, a fine role model whose bumbling physique would make a fine reference tool for Marvel comics.

The reality is that his tenancy has taken place during an era sorely lacking in aggression and grit; the age-old essentials that compelled spectators to sleep rough, travel far and scream until their throats were raw.

Had they sampled Wladimir's brand of pugilism there would have been less resistance when the powers-that-be first threatened to abolish swapping leather.

It is Ted Spoons most candid assertion that it is the lack of confidence and ability in today's Heavyweight Champion of the World that has seen him hog-tie rather than crush his opposition.

Recently Dr. Steel Hammer had Mariusz Wach going but failed to capitalise because he gassed. Many have spoken at clunky length about Wladimir's improvements. To be sure there have been a few, but the big man still finds it necessary to force clinches when in total command.

    Efficiency or incompetence?

For all the flak Lennox got for cruising he was a genuine Tommy Hearn's compared to the Ukrainian.

And this seemingly harsh word on a fine participator was aired because people continually dare to edge him into that sacred top ten.

It is a common and fair jab at Jack Dempsey that he never fought Harry Wills, but the fact Wladimir let his older brother take care of Corrie Sanders was, and always will be, unforgivable.

No amount of paper-thin defences will delude this sage of the noble art.

Talented but highly flawed fighter that took advantage of an appalling division to be a long running champ after several embarassing setbacks against mediocrities.

Never a great fighter.I'd put him in the same sort of class as the likes of Serrano and Shibata, as far as vulnerable but competent champs that had lots of defences go_Or Gianfranco Rosi.

Sanders had the oppertunity to fight Vitali for the WBC and RING belts so he obviously took that instead.

waiting to see what the prospects accomplish through their own careers.[/quote]

I agree in sometimes fighters that have lost become a force post title fight, like if Wach should develop and advance or if Haye fights his piers and does well, shame Sultan Ibragamov and Brock just gave up, I thought they had a lot of good fights in them.....I wanted to see Valuev fight a Klitschko but my thinking is it would have been a beat down like the Wach fight with the giant hitting the deck hard or getting pummeled like Wach....Vlad should beat Povetkin but Alex brings some possible pressure...Price can punch but is very green right now...Pulev has a dangerous left hand and sneaky power in it but Vlad should be able to keep him on the end of his range and take the UD but Pulev has impressed me beating the large guys

That trend won't continue since both Klychko's are near the end of their career and if the prospects lose they'll still have a good 5 years or more to establish themselves in the post Klychpcolypse era. Ibragimov, Brock, Haye saw nothing but barren land, scorched earth and oceans of tears when peering into their hopless and dispair ridden futures.
