Louis would win, Wlad would be put into Louis' bum of the month club. I see Wlad establishing the jab early, but by the 2nd or 3rd round Louis will get on the inside where Wlad does nothing but clinch, there Louis will find the 6inches needed to land effectively, Wlads extremely weak chin gets exposed by a superior fighter in Louis.
It's the same as saying why didn't Joe Louis get rid of Two Ton in the first round why didn't Tyson bounce Botha in the first round why didn't Tua bounce Maskaev in the first round This is boxing, that's why!!!
I really doubt it. Louis had inexistent foot movement. Billy Conn was having his time with him on the outside and there was nothing Louis could do to catch up with him. Now we all now that Wlad moves around the ring very quickly.
To compare Wlad's movement and speed to Conn's is like comparing his chin to Chuvalo's. He's good at it for a guy his size, but not on the same level as Conn. I'm still picking him though, His reach, jab, and physical strength & size would be a lot to overcome, unless he gets caught with a perfect counter punch, which was Louis' specialty.
Amazing the ones who pick Louis. it's like the don't want to let go of the greatness the past greats have.
Size is secondary to technique, stamina, and will, in boxing. Joe Louis was also was not that much smaller than Wlad at 6'2" and around 200-210lbs. In my opinion, Louis would take the fight to Wlad and force him out of his comfort zone and wear him out. I've seen Wlad being apprehensive and struggle with smaller fighters who have power.
there is one thing: take a punch. btw if schmeling can ko louis so can klitschko. boxing was in his baby shoes in germany at that time yet he was able to beat the world champion louis. imagine wlad fight louis' opposition - do you think he would go 13 round with the 174 pound conn? he would ko some guys with the jab alone.
Hate to nit pick here, but joe louis wasn't the heavyweight champion of the world untill one year after that fight when he beat Braddock :deal also louis hits hard and fast and was a great tactition size isnt everything. I remember seeing mike the giant white 6'10 275 ilb's fight micheal moorer 6'2 224 ilbs and obviously neither ione of em is louis or wlad but the small ud him and bounced off the canvass 3 times. Jack sharkey 6 ft 202 ilbs vs primo carnerrs 6'5 1/2 261 ilbs size isnt everything, though it does help It's a ban analogy i know but justr because some one is smaller when they posses ko power it can be the equaliser. Plus louis is an atg for a reason :bart I am have often ripped louis, record to shreds but the more i see of him and the older i get the more i learn, the more i appreiciate how damn good the man was.
Saying Klitshko destroys Louis because of what Schmelling did is another bad comparison. Schmelling was a very good boxer with heavy hands, but more importantly, they had a rematch that you may want to see. It won't take you long, it's just about a minute long. And Conn would last longer than you think, he was much, much faster and more skilled than anyone Wlad has fought. Quite honestly, Conn's superior skill may mean he has a better chance of beating Klitshko than Louis. He'd be very hard to hit and would land cleanly. Again, i picked Klitshko, but that is by no means definite. Size doesn't make up for huge gaps of skill and technique, and although Wlad is not inept in either catagory, he falls considerably short when compared to Louis and Conn.
If Louis fought today he would be fighting in the cruiserweight divison. Wlad beats Louis. Wlad's offence and reach would be too much. On top of that the 40-50lb difference.
:deal :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl Seriously, Louis would be able to work his way in through Wlads overrated jab and statue like defence and spark him within 3
Hard to pick here, Louis is a legend but Wladimir is just TOO big and has too much power, he is also very skilled. The size difference will be huge.
