It wasn't a head butt. Sanders went in and kissed him on the lips. Wlad went weak at the knees and fell.
No, he accidentally slipped and bumped his head against Sander's fist. Five time a row. Sander's got a lucky break. Watch it closely.
I may be one of the biggest Klitschko fans on this site, of both Wladimir and Vitali. Let's be real though, that was a KNOCKOUT!!! He nailed Wlad early and Wlad didn't know what to do. He couldn't see the bullet fast left bomb coming and therefore couldn't do anything about it. Sanders won fair and square. I do however believe that Wladimir is better now and would have won a rematch. Not an easy task against Sanders though.
I'd just like to thank all the OBJECTIVE responses to my query. I honestly had never seen the fight as I had stopped watching boxing for quite some time. Only recently have I been reintroduced to the sport (I suffered health problems and I just couldn't stand to watch what I could no longer do). I simply posed a question, and was actually more curious if anyone had thought it before I saw the fight (very recently). For people who like to answer questions with ridicule and insults, you are the ones that are always champions on the XBOX or right behind your computer screen. How many of you have any sort of qualified education? How could you possibly stand there and listen to a physics professor drawl on about string theory or 11 different dimensions? Again, it was simply a question, not a conspiracy theory. Deal with differing opinions and accept people who want to learn. People still try and deal with you! BTW, I see no comparison between that Wlad and the Wlad of today. His maturity has grown by leaps and bounds, and his opponent's inability to do anything substantial WHATSOEVER to him presently speaks volumes about the fighter he has become. It is like looking at 2 diffrerent people. Todays Wlad TKO 3 the Wlad that lost to Sanders.
Wlad tried and had a rematch clause BUT...Sanders vacated the belt so he could go fight Vitali if I'm remembering correctly.
Sanders hair flicked against Wlad and that's what hurt him, the punches were just the icing on the cake. Just like Vitali's loss to Lewis it was entirely down to hair. I think it's high time that all boxers had to fight with no bodily hair whatsoever, it's just too dangerous a substance.
:good Wlad had no rematch clause because his promoter had the options (3). Kohl (promoter of Wlad and Vitali) wants Sanders to box his mandatory against Lamon Brewster. The money was not good enough so Sanders vacated the belt and wants to fight Lewis. Lewis retired and vacated the WBC belt, so Sanders had to box against the No. 1 WBC this was Vitali.
The headbutt definitely didn't help matters. Split his eye open. I brought this up way back then...and everyone acted like they didn't see it. That left hand, headbutt combo was brutal. That wasn't why Wlad lost though. Wlad lost this fight because he simply had no idea what to do when he got buzzed. Sanders landed that huge left hand sprining off of the ropes when Wlad was backing up lazy... and Wlad sort of fell apart. He took the punch well... but he didn't know how to recover and fight smart at this point in his career. Manny Steward definitely corrected this flaw. In hindsight... this loss was the best thing that ever happened to Wlad.
