Exactly so you wouldn't say areola successfully walked him down whereas Lewis did.

maybe he would have lost the rematch. All we know is they fought once and Lewis won. Most stoppage victories don't require a follow up. Vitali fought a brave losing effort and a year down the line could have had more success. As it was he got to fight easier opposition and take a vacant crown.

do you think the version of Tyson that fought Lennox would be able to last the distance/beat any of the 3 guys you mentioned?

You know....you are one of the more knowledgeable on this site, but pretending that a lucky stoppage due to cuts is the same as a win in the more traditional sense....decision, ko, or tko...is beneath you.

Pretty much this. If there was a fighter as good as Vitali coming through now then Waldo may well have retired or been retired.

I agree that Lewis probably would win a H2H match up but I doubt even a prime Vitali could beat Wlad today

Vitali would get trashed by Wlad at any point imo

Vitali could never out point Wlad but he may well KO him. He would have had the chin to take Wlad's punches and get off himself. Could Wlad take what was coming back?

Would make for a really interesting fight.

Thats the popular opinion thats floating out there but Vitali's power is overrated to me

Even his durability is overrated to me. I see him getting KO'd by Wlad

Even if he was able to catch Wlad here and there, it wouldn't be enough to beat him

The rest of the fight would be Wlad nailing him with monster right hands and left hooks to a UD or late stoppage.

At least thats how I see it going

I can well envisage that and I don't say that Vitali may KO him to denigrate Wlad. I am a fan but we all know that he doesn't have the sturdiest beard if you can penetrate his defences.

Lewis is a nightmare for him h2h but I feel he matches up well against most from other eras.

Don't worry, I'm not some super sensitive Wlad fan.

And yes, I agree totally with what you just said

I think I may agree with about a lot of what you said, but it would be so much easier to read if you could use paragraphs, because it's just a wall of text.

1st off, those are the 3 which easily put wlad ahead of lewis, according to whomever i responded to. 2nd, yes.
