Im a huge Wlad fan, wlad is innocent until proven guilty or has a lot of smoke around him (peers claiming it, some sort of other evidence outside of a positive test) But the question you are asking seems fairly niave (with all due respect) A boxer like Wlad would take PEDS for any number of reasons, including but not limited to helping with his recuperation during training camp day to day, doing it to allow himself to push himself harder and further then he normally would to achieve better results for strength, speed and stamina, and increasing his stamina/endurance if done right with the proper peds. ect, ect. Theres lots of things to try and defend Wlad from PED use. In a long career there has never been links to him and steroids (Holyfield), never tested positive (Roy Jones), none of his peers has ever pointed a finger at him for it (Pac) But asking why he would take them is just being niave to the elite level of all sports.
I agree it would enhance recuperation time and allow him to push harder, but that would also increase his injury potential. He can't risk that at this point in his career. I don't think he could be more effective fitness-wise even if he could train harder.
Wlad's gained 20lbs in 16-years...ya, that's classic steroid abuse. atsch Idiots . . . Wlad's in great shape, he looks about the same as always to me. If you take the single fight all time high (249), and the single fight all time low (220), it's 29lbs. But, to get a more accurate average of the real gain look at the first 5 and most recent 5, with those you get 245 and 222, a gain of 23lbs, OVER 16-years! There's absolutely nothing to speculate about an athlete who always keeps themselves in shape, and is very dedicated in camp gaining an average of 1.43 pounds per year. Especially as a heavyweight boxer, as your body matures and naturally gains, even up to 35+. Now, just for the sake of argument, let's use the all time high and low, 29lbs over 16-years..that's still just 1.81 pounds per year, on someone who is 6'6. Again, nothing suspect about that.
Was re watching Wlad/Mercer earlier, he looked almost exactly the same back then. WAR Wlad, **** the haters.
30lbs and still ripped, plenty of reason to speculate. If it makes you feel better though I've speculated about other fighters such as Bernard Hopkins as well and he's clean living and has put on less weight in a longer career.
