    ....in terms of winning his fights without taking unnecessary chances. However, the reason he is not as exciting as he was, is because of these changes made by Steward. Things such as;

Not throwing as many power shots as he did in the past..these shots take up a lot of your energy.

Clinching everytime a fighter gets inside or lands a good shot.

Jab...jab...and even more jab without following up with his power shots.

Fighting tall AKA fighting smaller people without giving up your height.

I think Wlad is a better fighter under Emanuel Steward than he was before, but the part that has made him tougher to beat also has made him more boring to watch. :tired

Wlad has waay more skills than a fighter like Arturo Gatti...but remember the difference in Gatti's fights when he would box...:tired :tired

What about Freddy Roach? I don't think anyone could go wrong with Roach.

I remember when he fought Jefferson who was by no means great but was very dangerous and equalled Wladimir in size. He was so calm all the while Jefferson was trying to bumrush Wlad. I also remember Wlad throwing short punches in the clinch and HBO commentator Fran Charles and Kevin Kelly saying how aggressive Wladimir is and he wont stop throwing until being broken up by the Ref.

I always thought Wladimir was fine and just got clipped by Sanders because the Puritty and Brewster losses were simply him running out of gas. The only fight we can really say Wlad got smoked in was the Sanders fight. I think Manny is great but he lost numerous dimensions since getting on board with him. It is rare to see his hook or his infamous hook off the jab, a counter punch (Charles Shufford), overhand right (Jefferson), and he most certainly will not throw when he is being thrown at anymore. And if anybody thinks I am Klitschko hating I am one of the K-Bros biggest fanboys. at the end of the day the decisions made in the ring are Wladimirs and not Manny's so we cant blame Steward.

Good post. Even when Steward was telling Wlad to fight more aggresive so he could get a KO in NYC, Wlad was still hesitant.

I think Steward is for the better when it comes to Wlad. As for him not using as many straight rights, left hooks, etc I don't think it's such a bad thing. I mean he seriously just jabs your head off round after round (which are plenty powerful enough) to suddenly a big right hand thrown in. catches the other fighter off guard, and there not ready for his big power. Of course some might say he's so damn powerful the shock factor isn't necessary which may be true, but then again...He always seems to run out of gas when throwing that many punches. Its' good he's relaxed, and conversative just incase.
I cannot understand though....How in the hell does he look so good, train so hard, in such damn good shape, and still his wind isn't THAT GOOD?! I mean you can see people whom are strong that don't necessarily have to look like a bodybuilder (cuz of genetics, dieting, etc), BUT to constantly work on your cardio and you still cannot breathe...What in the hell is wrong with this picture?

Vlad's knockout record is fantastic with Steward. Vlad has an easy fight because of his skills. Vlad has many more knockouts than he has decisions and the bigots know it.

Not nearly as tv friendly but he is a much more complete fighter now. Offense and defense. He's thinking more. I truly believe he will become less tense and robotic over time as he continues to win and become more confident in his skin.

His recent resume is pretty damn good though:

Williamson, Castillo, Peter, Byrd, Brock, Austin, Brewster, Iggy.

6 top 10 hws, 4 undefeated fighters, multitude of boxing styles and a combined 209-10-7 opponent record, 5kos,..not too shabby :good

He's found the best formula for him to be succesful right now, no matter what anybody thinks. Sure, he could be more exciting and take more risks, but then when he gets KTFO again what is everybody gonna say?
"See, we always knew he was an overrated bum".

It was one fight! Only 1 fight outta his last 5 that went the distance. Cut Wlad some slack.

Good post. I do think Wlad tired to knock Ibragimov out later in the fight. He nalied him hard at the end of the 11th with two big time punches that made Ibragimov shake is head after the bell as if to say, I think taking the loss on points is a better idea for me.

I tend to think if Wlad had Steward in his corner, he does not lose the Purrity fight, and either does not pick Sanders, or fights him more prepared.

Absolutly right. Wlad has a pretty good defence now. He did not knock out Sultan, but won the fight on points without dout. What are you talking about?

A win is a win. And Wlad had enough Knockouts with Steward in the corner. He ist the best Trainer for Wladimir Klitschko. Great team.
