Wlad-Mormeck 12.26 million viewers in Germany

Good number never knew Mormeck was that big in Germany, obviously it helped that Wlad has decent amount of fans, but still impressive numbers.

 

Agreed. They dont care if the opponent is black or white.

Chagaev, Sosnowski, Ibragimov fights had similar numbers.

 

This is a broader point and maybe for another thread. But the Germans have a better attention span and are not yet as Americanised. There's less of this microwave popcorn mentality and that's partly why the Klitschko's do such great numbers. Anywhere else and people would be booing and losing themselves en masse in that very first round. It also helps that the fights are on free TV. Stick Wlad/Haye on regular TV here and that would've done close to 10 million.

Klitschko nearly gets 13 million viewers vs Mormeck while midget Mayweather can't even get 2 million viewers in his home Country which is the self proclaimed "home of boxing". Am I missing something?

 

Can only hope that someone will be able to fill that void when the Klitchkos retire.

 

Yes. Mayweather is on PPV and Subscription television that's a double whammy. Klitschko's are on free TV. Plus they're heavyweights in a different culture to the US.

European boxing is alive and well. Envy the Germans getting title fights on terrestrial TV.

 

That just proves that the Yanks don't give a monkies about boxing. Only 2 million out of 311,591,917 are prepared to pay money for the self proclaimed "P4P king of boxing". That's a joke, it's pathetic, thank god Germany is the new Mecca of boxing where all the best of the sport like the Klitschko's and Povetkin fight.

 

Not everyone in the US has HBO. Regular HBO has it's own subcription prize and only about 60 million are subscribed to HBO. So the PPV which is extremely expensive btw is on top of the cable subcription. Ah F it why i'm i trying to explain this?

 

Those 2 million pay $50 a pop to watch the likes of Mayweather. Those 12 million Germans put very little, if anything, back into boxing. Chisora-Fury pulled in 3 million UK viewers and thats with a smaller TV audience and no serious belts on the line in a fight between two novices.
