I think he's finished, but he gave the young lion a run for his money. Joshua doesn't impress me and I guarantee he will have a short reign. Young Tyson knocks him out in the first round. Wilder, too...and there are some new and exciting Euro fighters that will make a splash, soon. Wlad was great and a great gentleman as well. RIP Wlad: Retire in peace.
Why do people insist he let AJ off the hook? I remember WK loading up on shots and missing while AJ was on the ropes.
he could beat him. He had him on the canvas, but he could be beaten again as well and the damage he will take. It is not worth it. Could he beat AJ? Yeah he knocked him down and pretty much this fight is pickem. The problem is he will take punches which are unnecessary at this stage of his life. Retire and let the younger guys fight. The damage more punches will do is not worth it. If he does fight and win, then retire and you retired on top. Either way retire soon.
The fight offers tremendous reward if Wlad were to win at 41 and avenge the loss and dethrone the absolute best heavy out there but minimal penalty if he were to lose (He is 41 and already has a concrete legacy ) As I see it the rematch offers Wlad much more gain than loss --- It would be a risk but it will pay ---huge---- dividends if he were to win
I think people know he can beat Joshua. The question is what is the price to pay. He really was hit a lot in his last fight. I would call it pickem with a little more edge to Joshua, but Vlad could win. I am not sure Joshua can beat some of the other heavyweights now.. He is a little standup and he is too bulky for a big man. Who knows. Maybe Frank Bruno would have been a good champion in today's boxing.
Vlad/Joshua is a 50/50 fight, Vlad almost knocked Joshua out, so this fight could go either way. Vlad has not made his decision yet.................venue is important for some reason............
^Yes, it seems, from what I've read, that Wlad is more likely to fight in Las Vegas than anywhere else. Strange, if true If he is that "iffy" about the location, he's apparently not very sure he wants to continue his career or not
Yea he should hang them up dont know his financial situation but he puts me in the mind of someone who is smart with they money he had a good run borderline HOF heavyweight (in fact he probably gets in) but no ATG
Hopefully. Unlike what a lot of people are saying, it's really a "lose lose" situation for him if he fights. If he loses, he probably loses worse than last time, and the epicness of that fight performance loses some of it's gloss. If he wins, he's again kind of deligitimized his great losing performance against AJ by probably permanently damaging ajs career, and making both his performances less meaningful than his losing performance alone would be, if AJ goes on to win for awhile as he likely would. Then, it's not like Wlad will be able to unify all the belts like he wanted to before. He'll be too old. Wlad might be able to beat AJ, but I don't really see a good reason to take the chance when he can go out like this. Of all the atg hws, I can't think of any who went away in a more satisfying way than he would be: handing the reigns to the next generation, but not with a whimper like they usually do, but with an atg level great fight.
The facts are Wlad is shot and he knows it. A rematch would only be an even worse loss than the first fight for him. Does Wlad really need the money that much? I think he needs to retire, because AJ knocks him out again in a rematch.
I respect whatever decision Wlad might make. However, just don't understand everyone saying he is completely shot. Yes, he is on the decline. Who can step into the ring in their 20's or early 30's and knock AJ down right now? Especially who can do it on this forum? That is not a slam on people here...I don't mean it in that way. I am just saying that is not something that a completely shot fighter can do.
Yes, his losing as he did against the top heavyweight fighting today, to me, means he is far from entirely shot declined, yes but A shot fighter does not drop the best heavy out there like he did too Joshua, nor does he win as many rounds as he did against Joshua More than likely, He physically has a few more top level fights left in him, if he has the motivation to carry on He boxed very impressively and won more rounds than he lost, from what I saw
If Vlad should retire, what about Wilder? Wilder has only fought Winos from the alley for years, FIVE voluntary title fights in a row against winos, so tell Wilder to retire. Vlad or Joshua would knock Wilder out for sure...........
