Like he did in his younger days attacking Fury with left and right hooks. Or just hunt the one big punch all the time. Wlad may get chinned by himself, but he really needs to let his hands go and get the KO.
Wlad needs a Teddy Atlas speech before every round. Throwing 3 punches aint gonna get it done against a fighter as great as Fury to be honest
That certainly beats the hell out of his strategy of standing there and staring at Fury like he did last time.
Everybody knows this. Wlad knows this. Technically there's no reason why he can't. Maybe there's a mental block. Maybe between Purrity and Sanders he's dead scared of gassing and/or getting KO'd. But this is his last roll of the dice. He needs to come out on fire.
Like in his younger days yeah:huh? That myth is entirely based of the Ray Mercer fight. A man who at that time was nothing more than a human punch bag.
id personally like to see Vitali taken over the corner for this fight, wlad needs to go back to how he was in 2000. vitali giving him a kick up the backside after every rounf and getting him to go for it is what he needs
And he'll have to do it early, don't let fury find any rhythm or settle into the same pattern as Dusseldorf. Knock the fat fooker out.
Wlad needs to let his hands go? Really op? I would never have guessed, i thought he could just stand there and not throw anything and win the fight.
Wanting to let your hands go and being able to are very different things. Intention alone won't win this for Wlad. You can't hit what isn't there. Wlad needs to tighten his guard and move his head and upper body to slip inside, without that he's going to be stuck on the end of Fury's jab. He also needs to step in with his jab, go back to the jab he had in his prime not the pawing chit that has become the norm since Steward died. Also forget about clinching, that will only smother his own work and he needs to pick his spots, back Fury up behind the tight guard and stiff jab and when he has him on the ropes, that's when he should let his hands go. If he opens up mid ring, Fury will just have the space to move away. Wlad also needs to actually throw a counter punch, instead of his usual beat them to the punch and clinch routine. Wlad needs to fight in a way he has never done before. Not even the pre-Steward Wlad has the style to do it. That version of Wlad was still too upright, and was even less mobile with his wide stance, that Wlad would struggle badly to find Fury.
Which is why he'll likely lose. Would be very impressed if he did come in with a new style though, but it's too big an ask at this stage of his career.
