according to boxingnews24 Klitschko (Wlad) could now face Alexander Dimetriko. I must say i don't mind him and he would be my 3rd opponent choice after Haye and Arreola. tall comes in great shape and has fought a few decent operators. He should be more of a threat to Wlad than his last few fights
What a waste, of Time, Talent, Another Fight, Another 6 Months, Training, ect... Fight, Arreolla, Valuev the Giant & Haye then get out the game after Knocking them out or getting knocked out. Holding the HW divison hostage..
I had a look... it's just an opinion piece with no more official weight to it than if someone here wrote "Dimetriko is an option." At least he's a step up from Austin/Thompson, if only a slight one. HBO must be pissed. This big, white, well spoken HW champion and they just can't make any money off him. Somebody's doing something wrong. Sign the ****in' Haye fight.
Sasha Dimitrenko is a good heavyweight. Ofcourse, the Americans will shout "another euro bum"... like any other heavyweight from Europe he would fight, including Haye when all is said and done.
I just dont see that happening.. I think they will let Dimetriko get more expierience...Dimetriko is WBO mandatory for 2010 :deal.... That fight will come to him in time...no need to push it.
Dimertriko who? The guy's resume looks no better than Tye Fields, who the hell did he beat to earn the right at title shot? I could think of at least 20 Heavyweights who beat more credible oppenents and are more deserving. Wlad should just sign the contract to fight Haye and give fight fans what they want for once.
He beat..whats that guys name...krisniki (sp?) in WBO eliminator bout. I watched it with Wlad Blame the WBO
Dimitrenko actually isn't that bad. He isn't going to beat Wlad, but he is better than some are giving him credit for. He is the only fighter to have stopped Timo Hoffman.... something that Vitali didn't even do. He also did it in the 12th round showing that he carries his energy late into the fight. He also stopped Krasniqi in 3 rounds, Derric Rossy in 5 rounds (who's only losses have come against Chambers and Dimitrenko). He also has beaten the likes of Puritty, Malcolm Tann, and Vaughn Bean who is always a tough customer. Once again... nothing amazing, but not it isn't as if he hasn't shown anything of merit. I would rather see a 29-0 fighter like him becoming a mandatory opponent than the same recycle **** that the WBC and WBA keep throwing in there.
Heres my list, I think a handful of guys I chosen are on the same level as Dimertriko. 1. Peter 2. Chambers 3. Povetkin 4. Arreola 5. Haye 6. Valuev 7. Maskaev 8. Toney 9. Ruiz 10. Gomez 11. Holyfield 12. Rogan 13. Kevin Johnson 14. Solis 15. Shane Cameron 16. McCline 17. Virchis 18. McCall 19. Platov 20. Malik Scott Not in any order, and I counted 5 guys that are on generally the same level as Dimertriko.
He beat Luan Krasniqi is a couple rounds, even light punching Thompson knocked him out a year or two ago. Luan hasn't been good in for over 3 years, since his match with Brewster in late 05, where he was winning the fight on my scorecard, until he got caught late in the fight and Brewster was able to finish him off some vicious hooks.
