Peter didn't hit Wlad effectively. He only had him hurt when he would hit him right behind the head. He landed very few clean punches, and none of those seem to really hurt Wlad.

And the Purrity fight shouldn't really be mentioned, either. He was tired and had no defence left.

I think this is an excellent post.

I would like to add that Klitschko would actually **** his pants.

    Thank you,
I don't think he's going to **** his pants per say, but I question his ability to ragain composure once he was seriously hurt. Louis successfully did this many times, wheras Wlad really didn't.

    1. Louis was ko'd by two fighters as a pro.

    2. What evidence do you have that Sanders or Brewster necessarily punch harder than Max or Buddy Baer did?

Absolutely, but how many fighters landed on Louis in his prime and made him stay down? Couldn't it also be said that if Buddy Baer or Max Baer landed on Wlad that he might have some difficulty getting back on his feet?

Is Billy Conn your understanding of the hardest hitter Louis ever fought?

Wrong, he was Ko'd by only two fighters, who were both hall of famers, and neither did it to to a peak Louis. He managed to avenge one of those losses as well, when that fighter was still in pretty good shape, unlike Wlad's revenge against Brewster who was a diminshed version of himself when the rematch occurred.

I think if a fighter holds the heavyweight title through 12 years and 25 title defenses, and has wins over at least 6 past, present or future lineal champions, he is a bit more elite than the fighter you just described.

Louis certainly hits harder than Sander imo

What offensive masters did Wlad test his defense against?

Again, against who? Sultan Ibragimov did not launch any significant sort of attack, and Ray Austin was very mediocre. He was also Ko'd by Brewster within the last few years, although you aranged the time frame so that this fight was excluded.

And I can't imagine him defending his title 18 times in just 4 years, which may have had something to do with Louis, having some difficulty in the first match with a very slick and talented lightheavyweight.

This matchup raises some interesting questions. I think it's fair to say that Vlad would be the best big man that Louis ever faced. Sure Abe Simon, Max and Buddy Baer were big men, but were any of them more skilled than Vlad? More technically sound? Jabbed and moved as well or threw more intelligent combinations than Vlad? I think we all know the answer(s) correct? If you stand right in front of Joe Louis your chances for success are almost nil. If Vlad boxes Joe from the outside and utilizes his jab and movement which is quite good for a man that big then I think he stands a good chance of winning this fight. If he can't stay out of the way then Joe takes it, it's that simple. Also you can't ignore the fact that both men have less than cast iron chins. Vlad has been stopped and/or dropped by men who were not in the same class punching wise as Louis and vice versa for Joe. Vlad punches harder and better than the likes of Galento, Schmeling, Walcott and Conn, fighters who either koed dropped or hurt Joe at times so while I tend to lean toward Joe in this matchup, I don't see it as cut and dry as some others might. This fight may depend on who catches who first.

Well your knowledge of Louis is already shown to amount to about zero or less so not much point debating

Agreed, someone has to show this fella, that arguing with misinformation is not quite the way to go.

I've tried to, about 55 times

If someone picks Wlad over Louis and gives some good reasoning so be it, but misinformation will be picked up by someone near everytime in here.

    Indeed.

I'm no Wlad hater, and I am open to hear reasonable arguments in favor of him, but so far I've heard none.

This other guy does not know where to go.

But we're discussing Wlad vs Louis here, so "put him in against a fighter of similar reach" is completely irrelevant here.
