Wlad once again shows that he can adjust, and win in a tough fight...

It was an okay performance, looked like he could have done more and finished him earlier, considering how open and predictable Thompson was.

Pretty boring in the mid-rounds too.

The average fan doesn't even know who Wladimir is. His last fight did nothing to help make him better known. I encouraged all my friends at work to watch the fight. They all thought I was nuts for wasting their time. The only possible way Wladimir will ever be PFV quality is for him and Sam Peter to meet again. It would be Peter that would draw the crowd. Simply because he can KO Wladimir at any time. Wladimir needed to KO Thompson early and with malice. Hell, how many rounds do you think Thompson would have lasted with Sam Peter?

Thompson stood straight up, walked straight forward and played peek a boo with his gloves for 10 rounds. Where was the STEEL HAMMER? A few hooks and looping right crosses and Thompson is gone. Wladimir was afraid to take chances last night. He played it safe and lost a chance to impress.

Thompson presented no threat and gave no angles. He worked the body with pitty pat punches. It looked like a sparing session. The only way I could have been more bored or annoyed is if I had paid to watch this fight.

Nice post, you pretty much summed up how I felt about the fight and Wlad in general. The last two fights Wlad was in, I didnt see the number 1 guy in the world, where before he was laying guys out like Brock and Bryd like they were nothing, as well as making a strong willed Brewster quit, even though he was not the same because of the eye injury, it was still impressive.

I'm really starting to believe Wlad isnt that far away from the rest of the weak crop we call the Heavyweight division, guys like Peter, Valuev, and Povetkin are right up there with him imo.

Some of these posts are just mindnumbing.

Wlad has fought back to back awkward ass southpaws.

Have you guys ever played any sports? Do you have any comprehension of matchups? Damn yall are dumb.

That's the fight summed up in a nutshell, it was like a sparring session. Thompson presented no danger apart from head clashes yet WALD was again scared to go on the offensive. Funny that, considering how cast iron his chin is according to all these rabid fans of his. Surely if he had such a great chin he wouldn't have to fight so cautious against guys that don't even punch hard :huh

Stop it with the dumb insults, you dont hear me calling you a dumbass for your opinions regarding Wlad. I boxed for good many years and have fought southpaws, yes, they take some getting used to, but Wlad is a pro, at the top of his game and suppose to be the number 1 Heavyweight, you would think he mastered how to beat a second rate southpaw a little better, the guy had average power at best, it's not like he was fighting a Moorer or even a Corrie Sanders, the guy had no pop and he was still gun shy throughout the first half of the fight.

Thompson didn't even fight like a southpaw. He did everything wrong in that aspect. He is a converted right hander. I kept waiting for him to switch to righty. He was hooking with his weak hand and going to the body with the harder right hand punches to the body. Thompson was not committed to winning at all but it didn't appear that Wladimir was either.

If Vlad had not fought his mandatory, he would have been stripped of the WBO title. If Vlad had not fought Thompson, the haters would have said he was afraid of Thompson, the #1 Klitschko hater is Teddy Atlas, he said that Thompson would knock Vlad out. OK, what happened? Vlad has fought everyone and will continue to do such. If you don't like the mandatories, then complain to the boxing orgs. Vlad's next fight will be Povetkin who beat Eddie Chambers, another Klitschko hater favorite.
