Wlad once reaffirms desire to compete at the olympics

Well so much for that idea. I just 'scene' an article that said the Ukrainian boxing Federation didn't grant Wladimir permission to compete at Rio in 2016. Supposedly he missed the deadline to get okayed to go.

Precedent doesn't make it right. And as tqr as I can tell there is no precedent for a current world champion or even top 10 fighter doing this. Am I right?

Modungo was probably in the top 10 of some organisation and look at how outclassed he was against an 'amateur'.

 

Picture a 40 year old Wlad who is used to fighting once every few months against garbage opposition, over 12 rounds where he can pace himself...... all of a sudden having to fight a fast paced 3 rounds, against the best hungry 20-25 year old fighters from all over the world, no picking who he fights and having to fight on consecutive days. You favour an Olympic boxer in an Olympic contest and a 12 round fighter in a 12 round fight. Completely different demands and dominant energy systems used. A 40 year old Wlad would get outworked by fighters far more skilled than the Leapais of the world.

 

Although it looks "unfair" now, I think it's good the Olympics are finally starting to accept pros in boxing.
All the major sports and most smaller ones have switched to pros and it massively improved the quality of the competitions.
Can you imagine the other sports filled with amatures because then they have a chance to show themselves on the world stage to start a pro career?

I know boxing is a special case, because pro and amature ranks are split. But recent (last 2 decades) demise of the amature quality and attraction might make this the time to implement the move that has been made by all other sports at the Olympics. Can you still imagine the basketball tourney without the NBA players? The tennis tourney without the WTA and ATP players? Just chose your sport and imagine it going back to am only.

 

Vlad would win the gold medal again as he would be, by far, the best..................Vladimir Klitschko is extremely underrated because of all the bias against him in America. He has drawn 65,000 fans at ringside, something Void can't do.

I'm a big boxing fan and I didn't bother to watch his fight this weekend because his fight was a disgrace to boxing. He fought a bum that got stopped by soft punching Kingpin Johnson. Someone the hated Tyson Fury beat with ease. You know damn well Vitali was in the center of the Ukraine neocon takeover of the ELECTED UKRAINE GOVERNMENT.
