I really disagree with you. The point of pound for pound is to say "relative to his weightclass, who is the better fighter" Of course a heavyweight will have more power and a featherweight will have more speed, but the question is "relative to his weightclass, who is the better of the two" I think most people understood this. The question of the thread can be read as "Is Wlad a better heavyweight than Hopkins is a light heavyweight?" thats what p4p is all about buddy
I rather doubt your explanation. Otherwise what is for example "fishnets" doing ranked way above WK. In addition, fighters below HW tend to move up or down weight classes.
as a fighter moves up in weightclass, his pound for pound status often goes down. For example, Floyd was better pound for pound at 130 than at 147, but he is still ranked first because people still think he is better at 147 than everyone else is in their respective weightclass. anyone who ranks Oscar above Wlad on a p4p list doesn't understand the concept of p4p, or at least they don't have the same understanding of it as i do. (which is the right understanding btw ) There might be a small exception among heavyweights because their weightclass covers such a large range of weights. In the sense that a 200lb heavyweight might be a better boxer than a 300lb heavyweight but still lose based simply on size. But really Wlad is 240 and fighting guys who are 220-240 in general so his weight is not really that big an issue, though i would understand if someone made an issue of it.
You might want to contact ESPN and The Ring, because they are obviously on a different page than you are, and that is not only concerning fishnets.
Yep, Tyson was number one in 88 and 89 I think. Wlad is not on Tyson level, not even close IMO. Hopkins is more skilled fighter still I think, his competition is just tougher, which might give some people the impression that Wlads more dominant, even though he's been laying out stiffs lately.
Come On B-hop All The Way. You Gotta Be Kidding Me. Vlad Aint Do Anything Compared To Hopkins. B- HOP NEVER QUIT.
i will go with wlad, because whether they admit i or not EVERYONE is scared of him. Both are very good technical fighters with Wlad having the offenive edge and B-Hophaving the defensive. Prime for prime I say BHop, but right now Wlad for sure.
P4P, It's not close. Wlad is the much better fighter. I wouldn't pick the Hopkins today over everyone at 168 or 160, let alone his own weight class. There's not a long list of Heavyweights I'd even pick to go the distance vs Wlad.
Wlad is the one-eyed king in the land of the blind, when considering the landscape of the Heavyweight division. Hopkins defeated good, top notch oppenents like Tarver and Winky, while Wlads beats nobodys like Austin and a one-eyed Brewster.
Great comparison....One dominates his division, the other hasnt done **** in years and is a shell of his former self...Hopkins isnt much different from Sven Ottke...Now who wins that fight in Germany??
Exactly. The Heavyweights are alive & well. Plenty of styles, sizes, shapes & colors to choose from. There are many good fights to be made and finally the best are fighting the best. What more could you want?
