As I've said many thousands of times here on ESB; Vlad's number 1 physical boxing asset is his SIZE.

While beating down smaller mediocre fighters, Vlad was highly successful in defeating them.

Once Vlad faced Tyson who not only is taller and outweighs Vlad, but has roughly the same skill level, then Vlad's #1 asset, Size, was negated and as I predicted, when that happens Vlad will be made to look like the ordinary BIG bum he is and has always been.

Just imagine what would have happened to Vlad had Tyson Fury been trained by Emmanuel Stewart.

Yes he was. He was easily p4p number 1 based on his reign and dominance after Floyd retired.

Stop with the excuses. Fury 12 to 0

Overly harsh but I agree with the sentiment. Wlad didn't win on boxing and fight ability as much as he won on size and excellent athleticism.

Excellent athlete turned boxer, but with a more limited skill-set than most would perhaps admit, especially in that he's the chess equivalent of an opening theory expert - taken into an equal middle-game he's not remotely special.

So you agree that all your smaller, yank heroes of the past will also succumb to the technical prowess and size advantage of a prime Wladimir Klitschko? Gotcha :good

Yes he was, idiot. You don't dominate for 10 years without being great.

I hadn't seen this before, but Tyson Fury basically says Wlad is a very good athlete and good at a limited number of tactical options... and that it's not enough to beat a fighter like Mr.Fury.

He saw it straight for what it was, and it probably went exactly as he imagined it would.

Explains precisely why Wlad fights the way he does. He knows entirely his game. I know it sounds like obvious stuff but the point is Fury was so damned sure and authoritative in absolutely everything he stated and he says it straight up. There was NO bravado here, just straight up truth as he personally perceived it.

Goes onto explain he doesn't mind giving his gameplan away, because he is blessed with great speed and movement relative to his size, and "that's where you're going to come unstuck."

It's vicious, succinct, cogent and it's exactly what transpired.

Remember, size differences only matter for modern boxing, and primarily when you don't like a fighter.

One of the "lost abilities" from the old timers is that the laws of physics didn't apply to them

I know right, Wladimir only wins because his opponents are 1-2 inches shorter, yet they continue to brag about how 6 foot ancient American legends can outbox Wladimir, and size does not matter for them :rofl

Never understood why Wlad was on so many P4P lists. He wins by using size and height, also he weighs over 240 pounds. I respect his skills though but he's been fighting a certain way for so long he's finding it hard to adapt to a larger fighter in his older age. Anyways it's be a huge contradiction to put him on any P4P list.

Well, ultimately, the point of "p4p" lists is to highlight the boxers from lower weight divisions, so I could understand the point of view that excludes heavyweights from those lists. I've never given too much importance to those imaginary lists anyways.

He definitely was for the last decade or so, but he was also P4P one of the most boring fighters in the game. Some of the things he was doing was completely anti-boxing.

I don't see it that way.

The way I see P4P is pound for pound an entities ability to scale up or down while retaining the same base characteristics to the new imaginary state.

As example, SRR scaled to HW while retaining all aspects he possessed at WW would beat the beet soup out of Vlad.
Likewise, scale Vlad down to MW with his same basic skill set and he gets demolished by Golovkin.
    P4P = hypothetical scaling

Anyway. I'm already on record as opposing SuperHWs being mixed into competition with HWs.
The Olympics separate them for good reason since no country in their right minds want to offer that kind of size advantage and tilt the playing field.

LB 4 LB is really an Anti-Massive heavyweight term, so Wlad scores very low P4P, due to his above average Heavyweight size.

Very few modern heavyweights can be considered P4P & its not worth it, they are in the unlimited division so they try to work on extra strength & size using available supplements; Luis Ortiz
